For 3x40 eq tho, I'd prefer that players have the opportunity to replace it with more powerful forges. I think we should get out of the mind set that 3x40 eq HAS to be the most powerful eq available for any particular eq slot.[/quote:27ups2ir]
If this became the case, trip40 eq would become a low-level novelty much like holy eq. It's not the difficulty of acquiring trip40 eq that justifies its superlative attributes; it's the scarcity: no matter how hard you work at this game, your character gets exactly two pieces of trip40 eq. Plenty of forges are more intimidating than levelling to 3x40, sure. The difference is that you can ultimately finish as many of them as you wish.[/quote:27ups2ir]
Not many of us are as good as Atwell, or have the time to finish "as many of them as you wish". (If you're like me, you play almost as much without being nearly as good.)
My opinion (not that anyone cares): 3x40 eq should be better than most equipment, regular or forged, but aren't hard forges designed to offer unique rewards? At the very least, it seems like a hard forge should offer you something interesting that you would not get with the 3x40 item, even if the forge still isn't as good.
So: more whining about the held low +dam. I can't help but compare scarab vs. Tome to thunderbolt vs Rogue's Dagger. Tome is MUCH better than scarab, and offers a very prized damage point that previously wasn't avaialble without the scarab... Rogue's Dagger just has some cute extras that don't even tempt me to use it, because I can get a different 3x40 item that gives me more benefit.
Throw in the fact that Zeus sneezes a thunderbolt every time you turn around, and Rogue's Dagger becomes that much less attractive.
As a side note: I hope the poprate on scarab cps will go up, since +1 dam held low is no longer a prized reward for much hard work...
Other than that, I love the changes.

Done whining.
