HEATH Ledger was reportedly told to seek professional help for his personal problems while filming The Dark Knight.

The late Australian actor - who tragically died from an accidental prescription drugs overdose in January - was reportedly warned he had become too obsessed with his portrayal of iconic Batman villain The Joker in the upcoming blockbuster.

A source told FOX News: "Heath refused to talk to anyone out of character.

"If you tried to communicate with him normally instead of The Joker, he would just ignore you.

"He would often come to the set to hang out even on his days off, freaking everyone out. Towards the end of filming, he was warned by people that he had gone too far, but it was almost like he couldn't connect with those who cared for him anymore."

Ledger reportedly locked himself in an apartment for an entire month before playing The Joker, who he described as a "psychotic, mass-murdering clown".

Ledger also admitted he had such trouble sleeping while shooting the film he resorted to taking the prescription drug Ambien.

Sources on the set of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - the movie Ledger was filming when he died - also claimed the actor could not "snap out" of character and seemed to have "lost sense" of who he was.[/quote:33hs8ups]

Nah, that sounds like a symptom rather than a cause.
The man was either mad or both.

See, Heath never came across to me as a method actor. You don't see James Woods goin' all psycho anytime he has a bad guy role. Then again, he didn't have to play the Joker.
Necros are the life of the Undead party.

Well, look at Jack Nicholson. He never went all psycho and he's played all kind of cookie characters. Wasn't a big fan of Ledger and don't care to comment, nor am I competent, on his life and 'habit's. Sucks that it happened . On a previous post about size of funerals etc etc, that also doesn't impress me. Most people only show up to put on airs and try to steal of the spotlight for their own petty lives. Not intentionally comparing apples and oranges, but Mother Theresa and Diana? Are you kidding me?Don't know alot about Mother Theresa. I know she self-sacrificed alot to help others even when, allegedly, she had doubts. What did Diana do? Marry a prince. *yawn*

What you seek in life, you are bound to find... and where you choose to go will end up defining you.

Take Autolycos for example... he investigates the paranormal... and as a result of his actions, he finds it from time to time... As a result of his investigations, I bet it is defining who he is, and what he believes.

Take for example the person who doesn't believe in the paranormal... he will never find it, because he does not believe or choose to look.

It's no different for anyone... And I guess what I am suggesting about Heath... the guy was straight and he plays a gay cowboy, the guy plays the joker and now he can't sleep, he suddenly withdraws into himself and has trouble relating to others, it seems to me, he lost who he really was, playing out the lives of others. Maybe he made a choice to go... too deep.

Tinct may be right, it could just be a symptom of something deeper... but widow is also right, he didn't have to take the role...

Life is pretty much all about choice... you start life neutral... what ever draws you in, defines who you are...

Morality is like a magnetic force, and which ever side your on, draws you slowly deeper, unless you choose to pull against it.

Take for example TV Documentaries about native shaman's out in the jungles of PNG or something like that... One thing that always sticks out to me is the shamans are like "degenerating" mutilating themselves etc etc, and then the documentary crosses over to a picture of some kids, and they still have light in there eyes, and they smile and look happy. It's at that point you realise the shaman has actually "degenerated" from where he was at as a child... he sort something, and it pulled him in, and it's about ready to take him over...

There are many lights in this world, all seeking to draw us in like insects. Some are artifical based on there own truth, and when you get close they zap you, like bug zappers. However, no light outshines the son.

Addiction

Postby Avatar » Wed Apr 16, 2008 1:53 pm

I think there's something in a personality that results in a weakness to addictive behavior. Call it a penalty to saves vs addiction, whatever.

I really think that those people who become addicted to drugs, video games, role-playing games, etc have something in common. Of course I don't have any psych degree, so this is just a guess.

RE: Addiction

Postby jezer » Wed Apr 16, 2008 8:45 pm

I post a lot here, while I'm at work... cause my job is wearing me down, and I need to escape... 7 years doing the same thing now... I need a sea change. When I get home, I play sloth... to forget I have work again in 15hrs.

Call it an addiction to cover up unhappiness...

I wasn't on pot when I wrote my last post, it was more the fact that, it was a distraction from work... and if you break it down and think about it at a deeper level, I think it's true... Whatever you seek, whatever you let inside of you, you end up becoming... somethings are fake and hurt, others are good.

You could always quit your job and make a career of writing those crazy quotes they stick inside fortune cookies. Being a smart ass aside, [quote:1pkkc09a]I need a sea change[/quote:1pkkc09a] Are you a seaman?[quote:1pkkc09a]I wasn't on pot when I wrote my last post, it was more the fact that, it was a distraction from work... and if you break it down and think about it at a deeper level, I think it's true.[/quote:1pkkc09a] I would find it to be true that you were a distraction at work?,ok....[quote:1pkkc09a]somethings are fake and hurt,[/quote:1pkkc09a]ummm,ok..
Are you a seaman?[/quote:1aynbemk]

Yeah, I'm a fisherman in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, my network cable keeps getting pulled out from the wall when the boat moves. You should have seen the lag I endured while I was writing this post...
I would find it to be true that you were a distraction at work?,ok....[/quote:1aynbemk]

Well, my good looks and charm aside... I'd say...

Here is one for you, "where ever you are, that's where you'll be." Don't let it annoy you if you can't understand it.
