Jefferson and Hamilton had a similar debate as what Weasel posted before.

As to a president abolishing taxes. It wont happen. A president alone cannot do that. It would take the agreement of both houses and the president.

Same deal with the supposed thing we are ding called a war. It takes more than a president to make an idea happen.

Checks and balances. Let the system work and put a guy with different ideas in. You think he can do worse? Only if the houses let him.

The reason things get hosed up so bad is when there is no check and balance. Then crap gets ram rodded thru and it's up to the judiciary to block it.

Fred Thompson was pretty impressive in the South Carolina Republican debate earlier tonight. Bit of a late start, but I think he got a few people rethinking their position. Gonna be real interesting to see how things go from here. As I read on another site, it’s not unthinkable that Romney wins Michigan, Thompson wins South Carolina (which seems a given now), and Giuliani wins Florida. Under that scenario, the five biggest contests of the early GOP Primary season will have generated five different winners. Fun. As far as Ron Paul goes.. seriously, wtf? Clown.

Before anyone says that the country cannot survive without the income tax we need to ask how we were operating before the 16th amendment. I would also ask how the country got along without the federal reserve. It is all about manipulation. The reason I support Ron Paul is not because he wants to decriminalize marijuana or abolish the IRS. I like Dr. Paul because he believes in personal responsibility. Our government has long since abandoned its stance on this.

Here is the scenario

I got a house mortgage about 2.5 years ago at 6.125% for 30 years. Now as far as loans go it wasn't a bad rate. Joe Blow got an adjustable rate mortgage and his interest has doubled in the last 2 years so he has to foreclose. Or wait, now the government is going to allow this person to get a FHA guaranteed loan at a lower rate than my fixed? This is absolute bullshit and it only adds to the irresponsibility of the citizens. Why should dumbass people be rewarded for making even dumber decisions. The people who screwd up are now getting a better deal than a person who made the right decision. Thanks Congress.

I paid in almost 7k dollars in federal income tax last year. This money is going to subsidize failed industries, loan bailouts, and foreign nationals. I am disgusted with the candidates and its apparent that everyone except Ron Paul and Fred Thompson will increase the government by not only leaps but bounds. Guiliani wishes to have a police state where every citizen is a prisoner. Romney can't decide what he wants. Huckabee is a lunatic. The man even said that in heaven there is duck hunting. Is heaven meant to be some form of duck hell? On the Democrat side it only goes from bad to worse. The candidates are openly socialist and would love to tax corporations(who will pass the bill to the consumer).

In response to Weasel. This country was not founded on Christian ideals. It was a belief in Deity or God. Many of the founder fathers were not Christian but deists. Look it up. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin - all deists not Christian. The lunatics on both parties have taken over and wish to hurl us into a one world police state government where your every move is tracked and directed. If you don't agree then explain to me why the Republicans will not do a damn thing about immigration? The simple fact is that the politicians do not want us to know the workings for the North American Union until its too late. They plan to wear down America until we have lost our fight and submit. **** that.

Totally agree 100% re mortgage bailouts and immigration - both piss me off big time, and will most determine how I vote. I think McCain is actually a Democrat who happens to wear a Republican pin, seriously. Just about all of them want to reward people for breaking the law (immigration) and irresponsible actions (mortgages), which is why Fred's looking so much better. Ron just seems a little unhinged to me..
If it ends up a choice between Clinton and McCain, this country is screwed.

The reason he looks unhinged is because he says things that people are scared to say. He challenges the federal reserve, promotes responsibility both fiscally and personally, income tax, and most of all he promotes state rights.

Btw I think of McCain like the Manchurian Candidate. *Shiver*

It's interesting that you mentioned that. My friend Brett joined the Masons
about a year ago and told me that they require that you only believe in
somethign greater than yourself. Not christianity or anything in particular.

You forgot foreign wars and influence but I mostly agree with you.
Good thread cause it's very interesting for me to get yours standpoint not from mass media (f***ing propaganda on both russian and american).

Just for fun. Somewhat of a carification. Cristian ideals were involved in the creation of this nation. Yes The previously mentioned individuals were the balance to those opinions. Ben Franklin's editing and removal of Church speak and replacing it with scientific speak makes him in my mind the single most important founding father. (Never mind the whole library thing he created.)

But you also need to remember that back in the revolutionary times there were not a lot of places to gather and print media was much rarer then today.

A significant portion of the retoric leading up to the revolution was put forth by pastors in thier churches simply because churches we a natural meeting place. And don't forget the church speak was put there to be removed by big Ben.

We are still a christian nation inspite of all the people that are opposed to it being so. I am not one of those people. I would like there to be the seperation of church and state that seems to be dissapearing by the day. And I could give a crap about bibles in schools, that is such a red herring it makes me sick. Church values imposed by the government is a bad deal no matter what religion you are. The values are not bad. The idiots who would impose them to the unwashed are.

All that said I want to be able to vote Ron Paul into office and given a chance that is what I will do. I don't think I am going to get the chance and that just puts me back to the old anyone but Hillary view I had originally.
