[quote="juggleblood":14zd64zm]I don't agree that 3x40 eq should necessarily be better than forge eq. Forging high-end eq is infinitely more challenging than sponging xps.

good point.. generally speaking. but avatar light attributes should be a little higher than 3x40 don't you think?

Id like to add to what is already being said. I think getting to 40 avatar takes some work, to get the light. Getting just to tri-40 can be done rather quickly especially with some help. I found forging the Ars Magica to be the hardest thing I have accomplished on the mud, with the exception of getting to 40 avatar. Hard forges, some of them are very hard, which is why id imagine they were statted the way they were.

Weasel I can see making the avatar light the most powerful eq available for the light slot. For 3x40 eq tho, I'd prefer that players have the opportunity to replace it with more powerful forges. I think we should get out of the mind set that 3x40 eq HAS to be the most powerful eq available for any particular eq slot.

My thought is, why not let players pick ANY ( or just about any ) item as their 3x40 eq? Why limit it to the list that is currently available. One nice advantage of that would be that you could avoid the classo restricts on some eq that doesn't ( seem ) to make sense. Also, it would potentially allow access to some low or mid quest (drachma) items as 3x40 picks. Not that it would change me having the Cuirass and Shield, but it would allow more customization. I can see the point regarding some of the more difficult forges, so perhaps disqualify them from the selection process.

Will our 3x40 eq that are already in use convert to the same properties as the new 3x40 eq?

Will Savvy's old "Jeweled Gauntlets of the Magi" pick up the extra 0.1 ac that the new gauntlets have?

If this became the case, trip40 eq would become a low-level novelty much like holy eq. It's not the difficulty of acquiring trip40 eq that justifies its superlative attributes; it's the scarcity: no matter how hard you work at this game, your character gets exactly two pieces of trip40 eq. Plenty of forges are more intimidating than levelling to 3x40, sure. The difference is that you can ultimately finish as many of them as you wish.

3x40

I agree with Atwell. The 3x40 eq should precisely be the most powerful eq for a slot (for a particular function). Otherwise, we'll just be vaulting that eq rather than wearing it, since most of us will have finished the forges we're interested in anyway.

From Krom at the start of this thread:

Some items got dropped, if you happen to have one of these you can hang on to it or trade it in for free for another item, but you cannot get that item [back] again. Some items may be re-introduced or new items may be added, but this is the list that will go into affect within the next couple of days. Your existing items, if they get changed, will be changed automatically.

3x40 eq

Postby Avatar » Wed Aug 29, 2007 7:44 pm

I seem to remember when healbonus / spellbonus was added that some imm told us that some items might give these bonuses beyond the cap. That certain quest eq might give +10 for example, but this +10 would not be included in the cap question.

I think this would be a better way to address the caps. Leave them as-is, but make one or a few special items that give bonuses beyond the cap. Those 3x40 legplates for example.

Any chance we can get the deadline pushed? I've been trying to find a imm to help me swap out my trip40 eq the last few days and no luck.

As of 9:30 PM CT - August 28th, the new stats on 3x40 eq are not active yet. I would hope the deadline would be extended as well.

Will newer stuff suited more for bards, monks, and/or necro be added? And what/how can we find out about the mystery item? Future quest? How can we
find out if it's something we might request?
