Jezer, please remove the URL from your favorites where you keep getting those little moral cliches from - they completely destroy your credibility, it's almost as bad as quoting from wikipedia.

btw, Ice Age is awesome.

I'm going to give Jezer the benefit of the doubt. He's just ignorant.

Australian web filter to block 10,000 internet sites

FLASHBACK: Australia To Enforce Mandatory Chinese-Style Internet Censorship

AUSTRALIA’S mandatory net filter is being primed to block 10,000 websites as part of a blacklist of unspecified “unwanted content”.

Some 1300 websites have already been identified by the Australian Communications and Media Authority.

Communications Minister Senator Conroy revealed details of the Rudd Government’s proposed web filter as he called for expressions of interest from internet service providers (ISPs) for a live trial of the technology, the Courier-Mail reports.

ISPs will test ways to filter the web using volunteer subscribers. The trial will start before Christmas and is expected to last six weeks.

“The pilot will specifically test filtering against the ACMA blacklist of prohibited content, which is mostly child pornography, as well as filtering of other unwanted content,” Senator Conroy told Parliament today.

“While the ACMA blacklist is currently around 1300 URLs, the pilot will test against this list - as well as filtering for a range of URLs to around 10,000 - so that the impacts on network performance of a larger blacklist can be examined.”

Electronic Frontiers Australia board member Colin Jacobs said his civil liberties group was concerned at what would be deemed “unwanted content”.

“Conroy said the list would contain illegal and unwanted content but we still have to see what would end up on that list.

Gosh, again I'm agreeing with Jezer?!

It's really incredible that there's this much fear about Obama after all that Bush has done over the last 8 years. All the stuff our Justice department did? Alberto Gonzales? "I don't recall" All the censoring of scientists? Appointing Mike Brown as the director of FEMA, which even being generous could only be called a political appointment of someone with no previous experience with disaster management. The patriot act? Domestic wiretapping? You're going to criticize now about "thought police" after you've been spied on, illegally, for the last few years? You want to give corporations immunity for illegally wiretapping your phones and internet connections? Torture? Abu Ghraib? Guantanamo?

The president doesn't need executive privelege to exercise the power of his position. The people he appoints have huge amounts of authority. Now I guess there's a lot of positions to fill for a new president, but I've got to believe that we'll do better in the future.

For Pete's sake, people on Fox are criticizing the 7 page questionnaire that Obama's released for cabinet appointees. This is a huge step in the right direction! Someone SHOULD investigate these people that might be appointed!

I guess I'm just surprised that there's all this fear of Obama after what we've all experienced with Bush. At least wait until Obama actually DOES something evil, then post THAT.

Osama standing on the Senate floor, ON 4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, making the case for denying medical attention to newborn babies that managed to survive an abortion so as not to make the mother second guess her decision isn't evil enough for you? Setting aside any opinion on abortion itself, to take a living, breathing baby and deny it the care it needed to survive is about as evil as you can get.

Funny you should mention that. irony is a fickle bitch indeed. Osama would fail miserably on his own questionnaire.
