It was intended to be better than old lights. It has a higher restriction. Specifically which items are you concerned about becoming obsolete?


There are a ton of 3 mana regen lights. They all share very low restrictions. I'm very happy to replace my little avian claw with an avatar level chaos gem.

I wish I could replace the min level 20 handdam gear I wear with avatar level upgrades!

The good reason to change them, perhaps I should have been more specific, is that they currently have no purpose. They duplicate the benefit of an 'eye of the undead' which pops so often that you can usually buy it at the junk dealer for 1000 coins, and is restricted to adept necromancer. Three avatar versions of the same item with cooler names and avatar level restrictions seems unnecessary.

Finally, to Oboe's concern that five pieces of eq were added to the game that he'd actually use (*HORROR*), all five pieces are in the same slot and compete with each other. It's not a big deal.

The attempt to add higher level eq is much, much appreciated.
If a forge is difficult to do, people will only do them if they're end-game level equipment. Putting in a single pop that supercedes a forge will prevent most people from doing the forge. That doesn't necessarily mean higher level eq shouldn't be added...maybe a 6x40 or 7x40 restrict could be added to at least make it feel light the restricts are a lot higher than the forge.

For the +charisma eq, any charisma > 20 appears to be useless. Putting in +1 charisma on a light would get players closer to their max, but it wouldn't give players the option of replacing any existing eq with top end eq that's not +charisma.

Having +charisma doesn't eliminate the need for AC, hps, mana, mr and damage. Songs tend to enhance other abilities, not replace them. The best equipment is something that doesn't force you to give up a lot while gaining charisma.

My suggestions:
radiant eye sceptre - 1Cha 3MaR
drop of golden sun - 2Cha 1Wis 1MaR
orb of mesmerization - 2Cha 2MaR

That makes all of them about equivalent, depending on your preference. Adjustments up or down could be made from there.
