I'm going to play ne then probably cl ... a wa prime has got to win the race to 1x40 and will probably progress faster from there, but having played all classes (except monk ... I kinda hate monks) in III and got av's as wa ne and th primes I've found I enjoyed playing with pets far more than anything else. I'd rather pick something I think is going to be more fun than something that's going to be more powerful or progress faster for a first char.

After that well quite a few of you will beat me to 2x40 so I'll pump you for advice then :)

just my tuppence worth on classo choices.

I'm torn, I'm sure I'll go wa prime, just not sure about second, likely either dr or cl although since cl primes are the only ones that get restoration, dr may be better for regen (assuming things havent changed too much). Then there's also ne (which I'm assuming probably needed a lot of changes due to level requirements for pets). Ug.

Probably I'll start Xander mo/wa while I consider rr.

ug. either way, I dont have the time I used to have and probably should only have one char, just not sure what route to go.

You can only pick one class on character creation now.

You'll need to level in your secondary to be eligible to get stats. The next time you level in prime (level 8 or higher) you'll get stats.

Thanks!

Only Cl prime get restoration? Really? Ok.. so that means even [i:yoo1ud5c]more[/i:yoo1ud5c] time spent in sleep regen for Warriors running solo?

Sure it will push grouping.. but if you can't commit to long periods of time for grouping or constant attention, you're going to be pretty bored sleeping all the time to regen..

Really this new setup sounds great for grouping, and encourages everyone to be there with the front line / back line setup, which is great (botters used to really annoy me), but solo sounds like it's going to be significantly tougher.. then again, what would I know, I haven't logged on since the pwipe.. still deciding if I will.. all those restrings I saved up, I was half way thru writing a new Grand Palace and had 350mil in the bank. Almost had perfect stats and wanted to work on buying weapon damage.. doh.

can we finally all see inventory inherently or do we still have to wait till we get bard, druid or thief class (with glance skill) to be able to see inventory?

i don't understand why we can't all inherently see it when forge/trade mobs want the items IN YOUR INVENTORY.

i also am hoping that heal no longer cures blindness, that when a char -is- blind that they are able to HEAL THEMSELVES instead of seeing that completely inappropriate message:

c 'heal' <self>
Sorry, no one around answers to that name (or whatever the words were)

pleasepleaseplease quit insulting our intelligence. quit telling us that we became amnesiac just because we are blinded!

I do not know for sure, but since spells, now not targeted go directly to the caster, I think you can heal self while blind.

cast 'cure minor' (heal caster)

cast 'cure minor' firebrand (heals firebrand)

We will have to wait and see.

I think the new start has gone pretty well so far. I enjoyed playing yesterday... I also liked the feeling of "being all in it together" that the wipe created. I'm surprised how well the majority have taken there old characters being wiped. I'm kind of ok with it as well, although I doubt I will ever go through the experience of getting my old eq back, and will somewhat be a binge/casual player.

I think the new grouping thing is pretty cool. The first 10 levels at least as a prime caster sucked badly with hitroll, but I think that's all behind me now. Group coins isn't very good, but I've killed a few hunting tigers in my spare time.

Classo is a hard one to figure. I'm taking a new approach from Apprentice who was a pure mana bag. I'm trying to build a great "damage reduction/regen" class. I'll have my aegis, shield of thorns, fludity stacking with my high monk dam reduction, along with the very nice mana regen. I'll also have eventually 6 unarmed attacks after a fairly good deathgrip, not to mention swordwraiths as buffers. (Although you could argue we all have this now to various degrees)

The Jury is going to be out on shapeshifting. At the moment shifting drake has been good. The 3 attacks and better hit roll allow me to actually solo some vk mobs that I can't do unshifted. We will be stuck with dragon form from 3x40 till 8x40/8. Unshifted at < 3x40 I expect to be better than my dragon form. I guess I expect to find that shifting is almost a complete waste of time between 3x40~8x40/32. Maybe druid (something) can be looked at to get through this period, as I doubt shifting will be viable at all for that entire year of getting to avatar... that's to say I'll be playing my druid as a monk.

4x40 ~ 8x40 is going to be very interesting. Spending billions of xp on my useless thief class, is going to be hard. Large Groups will be good, if you live in America or can catch the time window when they play. It would be nice is lyme cap is removed, and chopping is viable.

So enjoying it at the moment, pondering life after 4x40 though.

[code:1lmud0hm]You charge and bash into a hunched ghoul.
A hunched ghoul is knocked off his feet!
A hunched ghoul panics, and attempts to flee.
A hunched ghoul leaves south.
[/code:1lmud0hm]

seems bash not helps to catch mob..
mabbe it was in solth3 too, no clue[/code]

For those who still don't know, here's a summary of how rerolls work now.

Tri tokens get you stats very similar to the 5 sets of stats you get when you hit lvl 8. The amount of stat points you can have caps at 75, and there's a minimum as well (70, was it?)

Hexes and octs have a wider range, but doesn't guarantee you'll get a better stat than rolling with a tri. In other words, you can choose to live with playable stats with the tris, or if you wanna risk it for godlike stats, you may go back to reroll hell for a while with hexes and octs.

Single sided die still does the same - minimum 10 of every stat.

so I guess its save up hex / octs .. roll for keepers .. but have a backup tri in case of a disasterous series of rolls.

Its not a lack of reroll hell ... just a different version ...

It's not a total different game as well... just a different version of great old one.
