Yeah flail's great, it doesn't hit supplicants, only hits mobs that are engaged with your group unless none are, and does 2-3x the damage of a normal attack. It's a decent option for someone who doesn't have frostbolt...or destruction, cry of the avatars, flame strike, strike, or circle stab.

Interesting, I wonder where you got this idea. From my experience, it didn't do...quite so well. Maybe it's worth testing again.

Flail has never been too appealing to me dmg-wise, broadside can hit hard
though, and you can massive crit with it.

Flail has specific uses in my arsenal, mostly because its the only area attack I have. It makes the mermaid into an easy solo, compared to sure fire death. Other than that, I have to be pretty desperate to attempt it.

Sorry been in school last couple of days.. if you really think Valor is the best damage weapon in game maybe u need to do a little more research.

let the mages blast the clerics heal and of course the warriors Whine.

Yes I was wrong about the Valor being highest. Especially if you sharpen a 2-handed weapon, it can get to be a bit better than Valor.

I still don't like flail much. From what I can see, it doesn't work as the help describes. It never does as much damage as normal attacks with the weapon - the weapon damage is always halved. Broadside is even less damage than flail, in addition to limited to a smaller assortment of weapons and a smaller range of targets who are affected. Unless you get that double flail or the critical hit, it's not doing much damage at all.

It's hard for me to tell, but I suspect that flail doesn't get the bonuses from Weapon Damage added either. It's too bad that weapon damage gear is so rare, I only know of the drachma relic and the avatar forge for 50 mils coins.

Anyone want to toss me a set of Devilskins for testing? They aren't personal are they?

Isn't flail still more damage than a kick or bash?

As long as you have +15 or so damage on your 'score', Flail should be just more than a kick.

Yes you can sharpen Valor, and hope it doesn't break on you. Two handed weapons get more benefit from sharpen though.

Tested out damage with assist and flail based on xp gain for each during a desert/palace run. Flail consistently gave 1.5-2x the xp of the single hit from assisting.
One-attack xp gains: [984, 1148, 1271, 1517, 1470, 1280, 1218, 1353, 861]
Flail xp gains: [1968, 1722, 1927, 2337, 2100, 2120, 2268, 2255, 1640]

That's where I got the twice as much damage idea.

Indeed, weapon damage does not add to flail.

I have never heard of someone breaking a valor sword. I broke a few shop swords with sharpen.
