We went to the Orc Mines. Few weird mobs met us there:

the digal clan chief : immediately to the north
Bahgtru, the Leg Breaker : immediately to the north
a digal hero : immediately to the north

After we killed them, we noticed a monster, who was sure looking dangerous.

Vouhx-t, avatar of the Bloody Head Tribe, growls at you and attacks.

That was a very diffucult and entertaining fight, the mob (should I mention it was hitting hard and had lots of hps like all the other quest mobs we killed?) liked to toss the tanks out of the room, had the proc, which killed Polk, the fearless leader, but take a look at this:

Blood hails down upon you, as Polk crushes Vouhx-t of the Bloody Head tribe with his Morylthen! :)

Avatar uncovers an old iron-bound chest.
An enormous creature appears and begins to survey the area. .

and here is another massive black doggie :)

Sneaky Avatar looted the chest without killing the naughty pet.

You are now well armed! However, I fear that Baraneth and her pride are alerted to your actions. Slay her and perhaps there will be some small redeption for Cannactum. Perhaps she even has a nice hoard gathered from the remains of the city.

Edd found the area where Baraneth is, Drexel and Volcano. While we were enjoying the moment of another victorious step, a massive dog came to the Island, and started killing Polk's followers. Polk decided to move away to Bal Harbor in order to avoid fighting with the furry creature, but it kept chasing us.

You receive 6293607 experience points as your share.

Osric gets a horned helmet from the corpse of a massive black dog that's on the ground.

Our first attempt of killing the dragoness wasn't too successful, she was very-very thick. The second attempt got her to 'pretty hurt' condition.

Congratulations!! Even though I am a descendent of the throne and
perhaps rightful heir to the weapons, I trust you will make better us
of them for now.

I feel satisfied at uncovering the truth about Cannactum for the world
to see. Perhaps we will meet again some time, as I believe I will now
endeavor to discover the story behind how these great weapons came to
be and found their way to Norythen

This was a great quest guys, I really enjoyed it, group ran smooth, a few good deaths, great rewards, etc. Great leadership from Polk, deadly tanking skills from Alias, Atwell, Tin, etc. Nonstop posting from Krok (not to mention some area running). Great detective skills from the group as a whole, Lis did some good running too as I recall. And it was all tied into the new look for the website, great way to get everyone involved! Thanks Leaders! Thanks Imms!

Agreed, it was a great quest, it was nice to be a part of it until technical problems with the site interrupted. As the talk was of it not being back up for a couple of days I went out for a meal, when I came back quest was over.

Admittedly it felt very harsh, mostly as very few if any quests are run at the times I log in, but then I do understand that as I wasn't there at the end I had no complaint.

Is there any idea when the next one will be run? or is there a time / day when you're more likely to run them?

quest etc

There were several things I really enjoyed about the quest. I don't need to list them all here for discussion, maybe I'll post more thoughts later, but it was really fun and everyone involved seemed to have a good time.

Of course, we had technical difficulties with the connection, so some people weren't able to play when the quest resumed. It's understandable to be discouraged by that, but it seems pretty unavoidable - there's always the possibility that something will break and we can't play. It was down for several hours, but a lot of people reconnected within minutes of it being back up.

One of the things that I liked was that the quest activities were broken up into multiple tasks, and the tasks didn't have to be completed in one 10 or 12 hour session. It's hard for some people to dedicate that amount of time to one sloth session for whatever reasons. I always felt sorry for people who (for example) participated for 8 hours but then couldn't stay for that last 2 hours of a quest. Since they had to leave, they wouldn't be able to see the completion or get rewards. The current quest, we participated over two days and got some dr for each of the subtasks. If you only participated the first night, at least you still got some partial reward - and if you participated the next day for some part of the quest you still had very good chances of being included when we found a chest or two - and got rewarded for those.

On the same subject, the total dr awarded depended on the number of players in the group. This encourages us to gather as many players as possible...if the dr rewarded per chest was set to a specific amount (ex. 100) then if we recruited additional players our individual reward would have decreased. I think the dr amount per player works better.

Further, after each chest was found, battle was fought, and dr was rewarded Polk and I made specific efforts to advertise that the group was open, unlocked, and that people who wanted to join could. During the searches it may have been difficult for everyone to participate (limited number of rods) but we only locked the group after a chest was found and during that fight. I hope this means that more people were able to participate. During other quests I've seen the quest groups were locked in the first ten minutes - and anyone who arrived late was not allowed to join.
