Lol splork what ethers? With these hand dam changes a monk can barely splork a ferret. Also only prime monks can wraithtouch/kensei remember? You are a dork. And if you want Counterattack, put a monk anywhere in your classo.

Why not leave the equipment the way it is and just publish the cap? That way a person can choose to use a few high level pieces for a hand damage bonus, and use the other slots for their other classos. You wouldn’t have to update the equipment list either. 

If you decided to stick with the changes the way they are now you may want to do something about the gloves. Heavy Brass Knuckles don’t seem to be worth the effort to pop anymore. Plus two of the (now) best gloves, Elegant Leather Gloves and Handwraps of Kun-Tua, are only available on VK; maybe make them pop on an additional continent.

Imms: Please ignore Melanthe, he/she/it is an idiot. My original post was kinda in jest, I was laughing as I wrote it but I suppose I should have known better. I actually expected (and still do) that the newbie gloves will be dropped to +1 handdam rather than the other handwear being bumped up to +3...but I had to ask (and please dont take it as whining, it wasnt meant that way)

Monk as not been ruined. I did a couple runs with Xander and while I only lost +3, it did not change what I can kill by a whole lot, now I just get hit a little more before they die, sometimes shortened my run, no biggie.

Melanthe, you are a damn whiner, stfu, go away. You are not helping anything with your comments and, as usual, you dont back anything up with facts.

Each of those nerfed items alone was probably fine but when you combine them it was a little ridiculous. I play a monk (prime, not some necro who is a monk wannbe...no offense Ditheca) quite a bit and will continue to do so, still going to be a fun char for me.

I am going to have to research how much dam that thunder proc does, maybe it's worth running some +3 handdam gloves instead now...

Melanthe if your going to quit do it please, that would involve moving on and stop posting/attacking.

For a Quad Monk to bitch as much as you have, I refuse to begin to understand that. Prime Monks however could use a re-think.

The Imms do a good job keeping this mud fun, balanced, and alive. While it might not always be 100% to your advantage, the decisions are more than likely for a good reason. As a cleric prime i wish i could do half the stuff a quad monk can do still even now. However clerics are what they are and that was my choice to do so.

Play hard, have fun.

RR (Rude and Retarded), you have done nothing but insult me from the start. You are an asshole. So anything you say doesn't bother me. Btw, aren't you retired? No, just retarded. Nice of you insulting Slothmud's Top 20 player of last week, who is always kind and generous to people.

Anyways, this bickering does no good. I will come back and play the game if monks get fixed to be able to splork more than hamsters. Meantime, I've found another fun mud to play.

1. When people really leave, they do it quietly like Orion did.

2. Monk eq was really too good, but... Maybe it'll be cool to name the exact caps for prime/sec/tert quad monks and just let people choose what eq they wanna buy like someone proposed, not cutting stats on em? I don't think monk primes should be too nerfed, it's a power prime class like thieves, why not? :)

3. People, calm down and stop calling each other names, it doesn't really help our monks :D

So they just nerfed an 'abusive' ability to Bards, I'm supposed to bitch and whine, right? WAHH!!!! I want the nerf to Wall of Sleep undone!!!


No. Thats not the only thing a bard has. And it was powerful (unbalancing so). That doesn't make bards automatically suck. Same thing with Monks. Grip was very powerful (almost defined monks). Now its just a useful tool, in their arsenal of abilities.


Even nerfing all 3 "+5 items" to +2, monks have alot more damage available than thieves, and have a better intial roll. And almost the same multiplier. Thieves only get a benifit of poison, and the % damage based on mobs HPs (which, if your looking at splorks, isn't a huge amount).

The ability isn't worthless, it just isn't abusive now. Perhaps it was never intended for you to splork the things you do? Now that you are, they need to nerf it. Just like the way they nerf necros when they took to big of mobs. And long ago, when they nerfed Mages and Charming, when people were killing stuff way to big to solo, etc.

It happens, get over it. Theres PLENTY to keep a player busy, challenged, and happy. Move on (in game, or quit the game), whatever. There are other classes to play, other abilities to use. You don't have to be super powered to have fun.

heh, as far as imms insulting us and being rude. that's what makes
sloth so much fun. the fact that you can turn right around and
insult them back and talk trash is awesome!

as for monks, spose it'll probly be hard to splork 10mil mobs now
with deathtouch. what a pity. my thief prime has pretty maxed out eq
two quest items for damage and still can barely splork a similar sized xp
mob as a monk.

and for a necro prime, one of the most notably overpowered prime
classes to be whining about losing some dmg from his 4th class skills,
that's pretty damn sad.

I think Melanthe said it best when he said he was on his way to +30 damage. Considering that he's barely avatar... well, let me do the math this way:

Monks have counterattack, which doesn't kill an attack to use (like parry) AND hits the mob back for a bunch of damage. Between counter, 2x attacks, and strike (3x damage), that's about 6 attacks a round. Strike and counter only hit about half the time, so call it 4. +30 damage. That's 120 additional damage a round. Compare to thieves... The high tard thieves have what? +24-5 damage and 2 attacks? Not to mention that circle forces the use of a smaller weapon... never mind that normal handdam compares with warrior style weapons (I still don't bother using a weapon).

Compare to warriors... 3x attacks and whatever damage they can squeeze in around AC gear. And it's a hell of a lot easier to squeeze in the +handdam when you're getting it +2, +3 or +5 a pop instead of +1.

As far as sucking, I took the hit to the thunder gaunts and my character is still getting 4x brutal attacks a round, countering and striking. Granted, that's using berserk :P And Splork is still a little mythed that I only use my quest sword to deathblow...

Your definition of underpowered is lacking... You have a cap of 5 mil on Lyme regardless of the day.
