Oath and vows

As far as the toss, no, if the combat is broken off due to some weirdness like being tossed out of the room, the oath ends, and is counted as neither a success nor a failure. If you want you can swear victory again once you have reengaged the mob. I don't really see any other way of handling this, as I don't want people walking around with a bunch of unfulfilled victory oaths but you could have just walked off at that point and never resolved the fight.

As far as the pets, I am guessing that you weren't engaged with the mob? It wouldn't count as a win if you weren't fighting the mob, it would just end the oath. I will have a look at changing that; probably it's more reasonable to count it as a win as long as you are in the room.

The last time I used oaths a couple of days ago, i was probably four down on the prot chain, and i ended up taking 3/4 of the hits and died. I saw this happen to a few people in the group, unfortunately i did not save any logs on this. I can test it again tonight to see if it is still doing so, from what it looks though it is pulling in the new swear with it.

Ooh, that's bad! I'll have a look tonight. Although possibly you just had bad luck, because oath of protection doesn't do that - it improves your ability to rescue and protect, but it doesn't make other people protecting you more likely to fail.

I don't think it was just bad luck, it seemed pretty clear what the cause was. It wasn't just me that it had happened to, and on numerous mobs.

Ah, now I remember: that's a feature, not a bug. Or, let me put it like this: the gods do not value such oaths if you aren't in any danger.

Oaths & vows seems very nice to me cause it bring new power to warriors and old classoes. But do we need ton of oaths that doesn't work?

Does anybody there gonna fix quest so ppl could learn this skill? Or you will just make more and more oaths and vows wich almost nobody can't use? I understand this is skill just added and there should be some testing period, sure skill can be tuned or screwed but I don't understand why KJ and others continues to add new features w/o fixing existent bugs..

You're the only one who reported that particular bug. I will have a look at it. As I'm sure I have said before, we only have the patience for a limited amount of testing before we put in new features, and so some bugs slip through. Oath of Victory had more than usual, because it is actually a very complicated feature from a code standpoint - before that, the game never really tracked whether you won, lost, or drew a combat.

This happened twice in about 3 minutes. I killed a mob and got no xps. I post it here because I think it likely that the oaths and vows code is causing the error. In both cases I was not fighting the mob until I made the killing blow.
