Re: Bots yet again

Postby kjartan » Fri Nov 03, 2006 3:23 pm

[quote="Avatar":p3kg5fa5]Myself, I've always preferred to just recall the bot / afk person and send them a tell to rejoin when they are ready to play. I don't often lead, but I do often recall people who don't fix protects. I've often borrowed a recall before a fight, then used it immediately to recall someone. Then I ask the person above if HE is ready to fix protects. You don't have to be the leader to use recall scrolls, and most groups will applaud when you recall someone who's obviously not paying attention.[/quote:p3kg5fa5]

Now I'm thinking that this whole idle-flagging system we were talking about really just duplicates the effect of a recall, so why bother. The only benefit of it over a recall I can see is that it gives the leader some timer that lets him see how long he has thought this person is idle... but not fixing protects is also a pretty good indicator there.

Does anybody see some benefit to the idle-flag system I had talked about over the current system of no code support at all, but the leader can recall the bot?

One of the main things imho was taking away exp from those who don't deserve it.. if idle flag can do that and a leader can set it while not messing up protect chain then maybe a good idea.. if the culprit continues to be afk, then they can take time to stop and recall them and have group fix protects when it is convenient.

Perhaps this discussion alone has raised awareness enough to have players be a bit more honest about it in future though.

I say don't waste the time on the bot system, and just let us kill the bots

after recalling a bot, I like to encourage the people to fix prots.
The perfect blend of poetry and meanness..

Splork and I have difering opinions on this. Then again, I have my own views on almost everything. We seem to agree that it depends on the leader more than anything. We also seem to agree that anyone who would use such a thing is already either recalling, pkilling or simply disallowing bots from their groups.
