But where's the meaning in being good, if it's not even possible to be evil?[/quote:jhgtcl7y]

Well I don't pthieve, and most of the time I'm evil, so perhaps ask that question to whoever decided which mobs are evil and which are good.

Actually your response doesn't make much sense. This is not about good and evil, it's about enjoying playing the game or ruining the game for others out of malicious intent and greed because you can't be bothered playing ethically (which makes it pretty much a pyrrhic victory anyway if you're a successful pthief). But hey, it's not my call, all people like myself can do is express our displeasure and let you know when certain 'features' of slothmud are becoming an issue big enough to make people leave. Whatever you choose to do about it (if anything) is up to you. :)
Anyone have any idea where our pbase is gone? Quit griping about this pthief krep, were running out of players here. Maybe its time to focus on something else.[/quote:sas3bu19]

Any idea WHY our playerbase is dwindling? It is quite possible that pthievery is a significant cause, so that is probably why so many people are focussing on it. Duh...

I realise that pthieving is part of the problem, but its not the only one. Also you should realise that clearly the imm staff does not care if this is a problem with loosing a few people here and there for this. People leave becoming discouraged with other changes as well. People leave because they get tired of cycling the same stuff over and over.

What my point is.....do something proactive perhaps and [b:3dfblrli]VOTE[/b:3dfblrli][/size:3dfblrli]. My consistent readings of psychobabble and whining are starting to dwindle as well.

Off the top of my head there has been about 3-5 ppl that quit because of
pthiefs. They were from lvl 20 - 2x40

Any higher we all know that Sloth is like crack and we can't live without out.
Then again I haven't been on for awhile :)

Well I know of a couple people who have quit because of nasty things ... one was blind for over 40min... logged .. he tried coming back on and his char is still blind... another was something that dropped his stats (unknown disease) to the point that he could not play... waited over 45min and it never went away got discusted and left... Others just plain got tired of cycling the same mobs over and over and fighting people for them to pop books.

The biggest reason I think that our player base is dwindling is the time of the year (spring to those in the norther hemi).. this time of year people just start droppin off the mud if you look at the history you will see a slump about this time of year every year.

Voting does help our playerbase yeah we get alot of morons and punks but they usually go away after a bit. But there are a few dedicated players that I see on that started back when we were #1 and #2 on M.C. now voting is easier than ever just 2 mouse clicks and yer done so please take the time to vote and keep sloth in freash meat.

As for pthieves... theres a few easy solutions to that problem #1 Watch what you are doing and whos around you. #2 Fix your eq change scripts. I've seen some scripts that take 10 seconds to change eq remember longer in inventory better chance to get stolen. put stuff in a drachma robe asap as these robes are !steal. If you want to be safe spend 150drachma and buy a cloak of specialization as an inventory container and never have another worry ;)

My $.02

I think the playerbase is dropping, cause the old players just can't find a new thing to do. New skills and spells add a bit of fun, but when you finally get the damn book after 10+hours of perm cycling on all of the continents.. you are a bit discouraged, actually. We can solo stuff which was a dream for us in the childhood. We can do almost everything pretty well, but we have noooo new stuff to do. No new areas, no new forges etc.

btw, as for Tinner, who forged bone-hilted, silly sword is valor wasn't the reason to leave.

My intentions, my four-legged furry friend is to allow Tinner who owned said weapon to re-acquire it should he ever return to character to play. By NOT
auctioning I am allowing him or one of his cohorts to gain said weapon back. I even went as far as to announce that I would turn it loose for a measely 250k coins if Tinner himself showed up to claim it.. as long as he danced a little jig for me,maybe even sing the Happy Woodcutter's Song while doing so. Taking into account of who it belonged to and the circumstances that he may or may not return at all it's not something I see as making someone else quit playing.. not my intentions and nothing I have done should make anyone think so.. furthermore had said item belonged to a how we say lesser known character I woulda ransomed it for probabaly a much lower amount..of course I could just give it to a non-pthief char of mine and just give it back for free but whats the fun in that?

ps-bollocks to you for trying to damage my image.
