I don't make many serious posts here, but this is one, so I hope it is not simply ignored.

I love the fact that the forum login is fixed, and that the posts no longer go in reverse date order. However, the slate grey with light blue font is really difficult on the eyes. Black is the best background color we could possibly have, could we go back to that? I don't see any customizable options.

Regarding the changes on the main site, I personally find a lot of the new lists very spammy and aesthetically unpleasant. Maybe it is just me, but I'd really rather not have things like spellstats, skillstats, the shops, sloth slang, mage stones, diseases, weapon damage, hall of fame, and Memory Lane.

I may be extreme in my minimalist tendencies, but surely I'm not the only one who finds the main page too spammy.

Having said all that, thanks to everyone who worked on improving the site.

"aesthetically unpleasant" -- Conforming to accepted notions of good taste.

if you dont like the new lists you dont need to click on them? sounds like you just want a bare site with nothing but a plain and simple forum, so just bookmark http://www.slothmud.org/forum

i have a friend like that, i gave up trying to make him happy. here i am giving you the option to choose a different alternate skin for you, so please dont take it as me blowing you off and/or not taking you seriously.

Don't bag Memory Lane dude, I wept openly reading the 1994 config file.

Not a fan of the new forum and eq list myself, but I have faith it's just a beginning and there is little cause for concern... you wait and see

I love the extra info, wish it went further into druid/monk damage dies, and class skill caps. Epics on dynamic world map was an unexpected piece of awe. Quest starters opened up the game for n00bs.

Monk damage die - 2d4
Naga form damage die - 4d7

I do not want a bare site with a forum; in fact, I very specifically stated what I didn't want, which leaves more than half of the tree items still up.

I would recommend taking spellstats and skillstats off the tree menu. Basically, the tree menu looks too long to me. Besides, those links are available when you click on any of the Live Info dropdowns.

It's a rational idea. Old site opened tree items in menu were reset each logon. New site saves all opened tree items and keep them opened for next logon. dat is pain :)

And turn on avatars please.

Slothmud has been up for nearly twenty years now. What one player finds unnecessary and unappealing, another probably finds necessary. Removing links for sloth slang, shops, and a few others mentioned is not a good option. New players should most definitely be reading these pages and getting a heads up on the game. Those who find the information useless can simply skip them, as they always have.

We supply the options and the players decide what they find interesting and what they don't. The majority of players that I have spoken to love all the new information.

This is a work in progress and always will be. Changes will be made accordingly:)

Enjoy,

The new site looks great. I especially like the inclusion of Memory Lane.

As far as I'm concerned, the more information on the site the better. It makes Sloth less opaque to new players, and that can only be a good thing.

Thanks for all the hard work that must have gone into this.

Overall the website revamp is great and a huge improvement .... obviously a work still in progress but looking good so far.

I am however finding this colour scheme on the forum really hard to cope with .... any way to customise?

Also the topic order dosent look very obvious to me ... here are some very old out of date topics stickied and the most recent (i.e. what I want to see) topics half way down the page ... confused me for a while.

If you go to "User Control Panel", it gives you a place to pick the skin - I forget where it was. The alternative isn't a lot better, but benq essentially said that you could submit new skins to be made available.

Ive installed four new themes, maybe one of these you will like better.

Also, clicking the dark fantasy logo will send you back to slothmud.org

Benq, if you like black text on grey(ish) background, please hop on this page and read to the end:
http://www.ironicsans.com/owmyeyes/

Thank you.

P.S. I'd recommend something straight-forward, like whitish background with blackish text as a default theme (not everyone will go and change his forum skin).

P.P.S. I like new additions to the site: especially the clan numbers are great info about clans. Looking forward towards the automatically updating eqlist. Thank you for the work :)
