I do like the idea of a timer somebody (or was it nobody?) floated above, reducing the amount lost on successive fails (either of raises or of players).

Of course, we all know the REAL problem here is that clerics suck at raising me. Two shocks in 10 minutes the other night -- WOO! I'm way overdue for level-loss.

I liked a hint at an amiable solution Splork had "Yes, this game is planned for the long term but its probably time to add some time '(type)'? of a totol level bonus to xp gains." I think cap was raised at 240 levels for me.
Lotta levels! Lower cap levels or adjusted level caps sounds like an area for wiggle room. Lower total levels for cap increase while lowering percentage.
Add a percentage at incrementally higher total levels. say ?% at 200 levels then ?% at 300 levels. or.. anyway it's a good thread and someone KEEP their foot in the door.! "probably time"

Hi Jezer, your posts are idiotic.

And I'm not attacking your PERSON jezer, I'm criticising your work. Taking it personally is your choice, since singling you out specifically isn't personal at all.

Reading this, make me take pause before I start to play. Just wondering if there was ever any change after this? I certainly don't want to invest months and years to get to a point where all I do is walk around talking to people, and die without being able to level up or work new areas/challenges. So few people that have made it to 4x40, seems concerning. Is that still the case?

I can get exact numbers but I am quite sure that well over 100 players have reached 4x40, a dozen or more have reached 9x40.

I think your judgement may be a bit off because we only have 20-35 people online most times during the winter.

As Splork said, there are plenty of people - a significant portion of the playerbase - that have achieved Quad 40 or better. This is evident in the way that we've tried to address more EQ options for levels in those ranges moreso than in the past. New features such as the spirit token have also gone in to address issues that avatars may have. Sometimes it's easier to set small goals rather than trying to beeline towards an ultimate endpoint several years in the future. It helps to keep the overall picture from becoming a daunting task to one of several very manageable milestones, however personal or not.

Van is one of the few players to make the dubious achievement of dying more than 100 times in a single week. He's looking ahead to what his losses are going to be. Hopefully 2014 won't be as deadly as 2007 van :)

Lol yep, I'm back. Still in the single digits for deaths this week, though!
