here is something written upon it:

Several weeks passed since we encountered any other people within
the hellish environment of beasts and flora. Neptune's glory provided
us with a suitable source of water a few days before. Having entered a
vast forest to the south of the savanna, we appeared in a lush valley
marked by an extinct volcano with two peaks and found ravenous beasts
of scale and claw warring against each other and their environment. One
of the men found a carcass of a large spiked reptile that was half-eaten
by its foe. The bones of the creature proved to be quite strong, and my
Galavan comrades began to fashion a wondrous item from the bleached white
frame of the fallen animal. Soon, a fantastic set of armored sleeves were
created. Taking this knowledge home, we were confident the Galavan people
would be able to better protect themselves from the harsh fauna of the
vast unknown region.
