Fifa World Cup

Postby Thraxas » Fri Jun 11, 2010 6:30 pm

The Fifa World Cup started today ... soccer to the Americans ... football to the rest of the world.

England, where I live at least, has gone crazy for it (again), we have little chance of winning but expectation is through the roof ... the English have thought up a cunning plan ... every other house, street corner, pub, chip shop and spare piece of wall is being plastered with flags supporting our brave lads so that when they glance over from Africa and see this support they will be so touched with our sincere support that they'll suddenly discover previously untapped reserves of skillful play and dazzling tactics ... I'm sure this apparently futile excercise has some logic somewhere ... seriously my road is currently plastered with red and white bunting and flags so much you'd think it was a jubilee or the coronation but no its all because some overpaid ninnies can kick a ball moderately well.

My thinking is that I'm going to join in, pointless as it may seem, if I hang a flag here to show the level of my support, the England team maybe just maybe will perform exactly how I wish them to:

Well, your flag worked for the first set of matches, Thraxas ;)
So you still have time to paint your face red, blue and white and not wash it until the end of the cup ;)

heh, england didn't lose...they "lost."

Tied 1-1 with USA, which is considered a major upset.
