So we're more than 40 votes out of 2nd place and the 4th place mud is 100 votes from us. While, I'm all for ranking up, has anyone seen any significant change in our player base when we're Rank 2 as opposed to 3?

I mean, that's what it's all about - getting new people to see how active our player base is and consider making a sojourn through our ranks. Would someone start an inquiry regarding whether or not even being on the TMC makes a diff?

actually it DOES make a difference. i have lost count of how many times i have greeted new players, asking them how they found us and they said "saw you on TMC and decided to check you out". while i have never heard a single one of them refer to coming here due to our ranking, being up in the top doesn't hurt. keep voting folks - it really does count.

No idea in general nor what the stats are but I came to sloth through TMC, I left my last mud due to the falling then non-existent playerbase in my time zone.

I chose sloth as being the highest ranked TMC mud that wasn't a pkill mud.

I may be the only long term player who arrived through TMC, I suspect not, but even if I were its surely worth all that voting just for my company.

Back when I was trying out muds for the first time, I tried Sloth since it was #1 on TMC and didn't have enforced rp. I didn't know what else to look for, and that probably holds true for most people that are completely new.

And it could be a coincidence, but there were a ton more real new players when we were right up there.
