A call for politeness

Postby Qa » Fri Oct 27, 2006 10:53 am

[quote="Gimlet":3kyl16ad]It's generally unwise for people who are new (less than 2-3 year play time) to the mud to get mouthy to the old-schoolers who have mudded for over a century.[/quote:3kyl16ad]

A have to agree with the gist of this statement. Perhaps we could all try to be a little nicer. Even me.

Along those lines, I have been playing a bit more recently and at one point was considering leading a semi-large group. Some new* player (I don't remember who, and don't care) said I don't know the first thing about leading. Just beacuse you haven't seen me lead doesn't mean I wasn't leading large groups when you were in diapers. As Turbo once said "good leading is a skill like riding a bike - you don't forget it." This is certainly true - you ever seen Shyla lead? (She can, and is fantastic at it!) People complain when there isn't a group, and turn around and criticise someone when they try and lead. Leading is difficult, that is why there is an additional reward for it. Don't make a challanging task overly difficult by being rude.

I guess the bottom line here is, try and stop criticising people.

Edit: Hey, Xylene. How are ya?

Actually, I'd like to see more people trying to learn to lead large groups instead of criticizing folks for trying. If you're smart enough to criticize, take the lead and show us how it's done.
