I'm curious about Ditheca's hax though, stealing shit that people are wearing
is cool and I wish to god I knew how. I might play again just to stir the
hornets nest with that one :)

It seems that everyone failed to answer the most important question though..

Will the NL be able to pull out of this fuc king nosedive and whoop those
AL pussies tonight??

It's my phone, for some reason half of the people who call get that
message. The phone lines in this house are cursed. I had one cordless
go totally haywire last year and start flashing crazily and screeching
at about 2 in the morning.

As a newbie, one of the things I enjoy most are the drachma scatters. I probably get 4 or 6 drachma during a scatter. Just getting some drachma gives you hope of one day getting something out of the shop. As a newbie that exclusively solos's these scatters force me out of my comfort zone getting me to walk around and explore. Remember not all people are playing their third or fourth character. Sometimes people are really new. I left Valke without getting the drachma for the guild quests because I didn't know they existed.

The problem I have with all this really is that it is like insurance fraud -- everyone else gets to suffer except the person(s) who is cheating the system. I think you need to quit playing the mud long before you feel the need to ruin it for other people.

The newbie guy posting below is exactly what happens -- the reactionary changes and nerfing all are geared to prevent high level characters abuses with 0 consideration for low to mid level characters.

Some examples:
--no drachma scatters? thats how my friend and I got probably our first drachma with out newbies
--abuse of animate dead makes it so a low level necro (which is very hard for a true newbie to raise up) cant make undead until level 10 now -- trust me that is a long ways from level 8 if you are trying to raise him up yourself with no big help
--a low level monk (under 20) is better off using a good weapon than open hand now that the eq that was +hand damage items are drastically reduced (like the elegant gloves) even counting strike.

the be all end all truth is.. that the imm's are so busy trying to get the things to work, that they don't have time to compulate the near infinite possiblities that the core player can adapt to.

Some players that have 10+ years of mudding on sloth or others have had more exposure to differences and therefore can creatively manipulate the surroundings and skills they are given. This is how the mud should be, those who figure things out should have the advantage over others.. **in real life if you were in a battle for your life, would you give your opponent the strategy and key secrets so they could kill you?**

*BUT* using your genius to cause havoc is not always the best strategy. I agree that some reigns need tightened to ensure less cheating. However the idea of dropping skills and nerfing a class or eq is not the way to do it.

#1 Pro-active forms of posted generalized discipline need to be created to ensure that everyone knows what will happen if they break the rules.

#2 penalizing everyone is just not fair, i have never played a necro, or a cleric but i feel they have been shafted. additions don't always make up for the losses.

#3 give the imm's a little bit of a break on some respects.. this is still a free game after all.. they donate their time.. and cannot be expected to have all the answers.

PS! Nia would have just whiped everyone, and Ming would have made you wish you had been..

We would like low-level necros to be able to use undead and low-level monks to be able to use bare-hand attacks. I will address the necro one. Does anyone remember why we moved first undead from 8 to 10? Was it really because of abuse, or was it just something that happened by accident as a side-effect of something else? I think it was probably the latter, in which case I will have a look at that and see if I can move it back to 8, or even lower.

I have trouble with the claim that low level monks are better with weapons. I tested that pretty extensively while I was on valk and the only +handdam I wore was the Elegant Leather Gloves. I was massacring EVERY hit where with a weapon I was getting very hards and extremely hards and only the occasional massacre.

Keep in mind I was a warrior prime with frenzy and decent percent strength... but both of those apply to weapons as well as barehands.

Even with less damage on the gloves, base handdam is the same. There's no way it can be better for a level 20 monk to wield a weapon. If you're referring to sub-20, I think I was level 12-15 when I started passing up the holy sword because my hands did almost the same damage.

Undead vs Supplication

Postby Akasha » Thu Jul 13, 2006 11:22 pm

I seem to remember that undead for necros was raised to 10 because supplication starts at 10. So both classes could start getting followers at the same level.

low level necros animate dead got messed up to reduce the overall power of the spell (so yes as a side effect to reducing necro power). It was level 8, but you couldnt actually make anything until 10, so splork raised it up to 10th.
