Using MXP?

Postby *Splork* » Thu Mar 30, 2006 11:19 am

I've been stating players the last week to find out why some people are not using mxp, here are the three reasons just about everyone gave(which are all fixable);

1) MXP is ugly.
* Most clients can configure how mxp links appear. Wintin.NET users go to file-options-mxp. Here you can change color- change whether its bold-underlined-feignt-italic, etc. You can change the color of the link. Etc. Basically, you can customize the looks to fit right in with SlothMUD.

2) MXP spams me whenever I enter a room with variables.
* This often happens to new users-simply type #mess for Wintin.NET
Im sure there is a smilar command for other clients.

3) MXP often causes me to buy the wrong item in shops.
* There is now an mxpshops option in mxpsettings. Simply toggle shops off. For this matter, if you do not like any of the options mxp uses, simply type mxpsettings-find it-and shut it off.

Once a player gives mxp a chance, I'm pretty sure they will use it. A few of the better options...

1) MXP in our helpfiles is incredible. It allows u to travel them much quicker than before. MXP is even added to the advice command. Simply type advice wordname and whatever options come up are easily linked with MXP.

2) MXP in channels allows players to create funky tank reporters or silly grouptells. Or for people like Autolycos-very annoying ones:-)

3) MXP can be found in unexpected places like our wordly most deadly boards. Hover your mouse over these mobs and find out who killed this mob last, finger the player(no comment), or do a last player of them. All with a simply click of the mouse.

4) Now when players channel web links, simply click on the link.It will automatically open up your browser to that site. There is no longer a need to copy it, open up your browser, paste it, etc. Much quicker and easier.

5) MXP users even have mxp variables that are set directly by the mud to their client. These variables can easily be used in your scripts. Stuff like this can create real time tankreporters that no longer lag. Very nice options.

Please give MXP a shot, spent alot of time flushing it out and would hate to see it wasted. If you have a complaint, please email or post it. I can most likely fix the problem...

Enjoy,

Where would I find the documentation to help me do stuff like this?

Does the variable thing work with Wintin.Net?
Talk to the clown.
