Good question Briza,
In the old sloth, because there was only 4 classes you could choose for a character, there were certain class orders that were developed in order to make your prime class the best it could be. Basically the idea was you choose a prime class, and the other 3 classes were picked to support that prime class so it could be the best.
For example if you played druid, you needed mana... so it was widely excepted a druid should be 4 x Caster with mage or cleric second. The same with warrior primes, you should go thief or monk second.
Some players still hold to the ideal, that your sub classes are only there to support your prime class. I currently play a druid monk which raises a few eyebrows, I expect that my critics will be pleasantly surprised, about the time I reach 6x40 and higher.
Before sloth went to 8 different classes, there was only 4 classes, warrior, cleric, thief, mage. Cleric warriors were a fairly popular choice at the time then. I often grouped with Assirian in catacombs and dark dreams. He could do quite well in some areas, wielding a dark mace while being fully armored. This works well for solo xp in places like catacombs and dark dreams.
I suggest you do what you want to do, become what you want to be, think outside the box, aim not to be just a specialist, but a little bit more versatile, try and aim to be able to do 2 things well, instead of just one.
Some classes do have prefered slots even in this version of sloth. For example, thief and monk should probably only be put 1st or 2nd or 7th and 8th. If you are a prime caster, do try and put caster classes higher, and druid higher as much as possible, but don't lock yourself in to what people say about the old specialist class orders, versatile is good.
The ultimate stat in sloth is mana, because mana is indirectly health and damage, so it's wise to aim to have as much as possible.
At the end of the day, do what you want to do and enjoy it. Don't be afraid to put warrior second, and then druid and mage somewhere soon afterwards. Armored clerics is not an original concept, it's proven to have worked!
