About Me:I'm Brian Hayward, I currently work as a Systems Programmer for Sprint Corporation. I am married to the wonderful Julie Anne Hayward. On January 9, 2002 we had our first child Jacob Dennis Hayward. On 10/30/2005, we had our second child Andrew Gordon Hayward. I am very interested in computers, program development and the GNU/Linux Operating System. I enjoy playing old arcade games on the MAME system, though I rarely have time to do this. I have been running a text based mud (SlothMUD III) since late 1993. I am a convertible fanatic, I currently drive a Black 1988 Mustang GT Convertible.Fair Use Rights/Home Recording ActI think the Fair Use laws should be upheld. If I purchase music, I should be able to convert and copy it to formats that I can archive on my own computer for personal use. I should also be able to play music in an MP3 player for my own enjoyment. The Home Recording Act also allows us to pass a dubbed tape along to a personal friend for their enjoyment. Becoming a distributor on the internet is something that I don't think I should be allowed to do, though. Even though evidence shows that people who download music also purchase music, I believe in the rights of the copyright holder to control how and when their content is distributed to the general public. Congress should uphold our fair-use rights by mandating that any copy-protection technology used should not interfere with these rights.Links (Mostly Open Source):Digital Video Recording & Movies Linux Hardware Support Games: Stuff to waste time on Palm Pilot Operating Systems GNU/Linux & Unix Applications Operating System Security Email and Office Suites Humor News Sites Commentary Misc Development Links |
