Fox Direheart

I foolishly tried to solo Fox Direheart today (Because he's a rare thing left to do)... here are some highlights...

I had him to 20% in 30 seconds, with some nice chops...

You viciously massacre Fox Direheart with your cleave.

Fox Direheart snaps his fingers and you find yourself elsewhere, your comrades no longer there. You
have a premonition it's not going to end well...

Murder for Pleasure
Fox Direheart's secret relaxation place is a maniac's dream incarnate.
The very air in the small room seems to emanate invisible menace and
smells of old and careless murder, as if a thousand prisoners of war
were slaughtered here in no painless way for no other purpose than the
delight of their torturer. There is a barely perceptible whiff of old
smoke with undertones of sulphur mixing with the sickly sweet scent of
burnt flesh. The room might have exits, but none are visible to a naked
eye, which adds greatly to the already immense feeling of uneasiness that
permeates the vicinity.

Struggling against invisible bonds of terror, gasping, crying like a baby,
your horrors and nightmares surfacing from the darkest depths of your mind,
haunting and taunting and mocking you for an eternity, you finally make it
through the wall of darkness into the regular world where, compared to the
infernally oppressing atmosphere of Fox Direheart's private chamber, the
everyday blood and mayhem suddenly seem cozy and fuzzy remembrances of home.
Repository of Dread
The room is home to countless magical paraphernalia, some of it not
above trinketry, some honest magician's items, some inundated with very
dark undertones. A door in the eastern wall offers ingress and egress
to anyone who dares visit this murky cellar. If not actually a repository
of dread, this place comes very close to being one. Every sense is quite
mercilessly assaulted here: cackling laughter is heard at the threshold
of audibility; shadows dance on the walls, taking obscene shapes; bats
flap by, brushing against the visitors in a most frivolous manner. It
smells distinctly clear of crypts, death, graves, and corpses sliced open.
Exits: East
You make a hasty retreat.

So he phased to a no exit room. I did know he phased, but was unsuccessful in trying to bind him. He didn't come back for ages... probably until the arms of the abyss wore off. So you do need to bind him first, or fighting him is pointless, secondly he needs arms of the abyss otherwise he can't seem to move.

But lastly he has some procs which basically amount to death procs, because no one could survive 1400hp hits when this area was made at the time. The big issue is that the key, which I popped yesterday doesn't pop very often... and although I popped two during BH day yesterday... the second one was on my corpse (my bad)... but it wouldn't do any good anyway... my corpse is in his no exit room. The area is designed in such a way that a probable death down there will lock the player out from getting there corpse, this is also a "feature" of other areas in the game... and hence those areas are rarely run, which is kind of counter productive, but at least those areas, another person can help you get you corpse... not so in darken wood.

locate corpse
The corpse of Gorka is in Murder for Pleasure.

So now I am sitting at BH recall naked... waiting for an imm to get my corpse from a no exit room, on chop day of all the days I need it...

Now I'm not against having hard things in the game, but not being able to get your corpse from a no exit room as far as I can tell is not good (maybe there are hidden entries - I certainly don't know them). Secondly, death procs are kind of dumb... because there is no challenge in them, the game just decides that you die, and that's not really challenging, it's just ticks off players. Thirdly the key to him is a hard load and it's pop rate should probably be increased.

I'm also curious as I fought him as -13.1ac but died with -6.6ac, how? And I am also curious as to why he is easy to kill at the start then turns into an epic. Also I wonder if I had just landed that demon bind... would I have won? Or do procs activate to ensure that he's not solo? I would kind of like to try again, but I need to be able to get my corpse!

Thanks to Maniac who transfered me to get my stuff from the no_exit room. My corpse had decomposed hours ago and all the stuff was on the floor.

I searched in the room "Murder for Pleasure" where I was butchered, there was an exit to the north which lead to Direhearts room. The exit was secret but without doors. It's probably one way, but there could be a trig trap at direhearts room. I searched direhearts room before I died and could find nothing.

There is a room message in blue when you transfer to "Murder for Pleasure"... that will be when you need to flee... while you still can...

If anyone knows a trig trap to enter "Murder for Pleasure" please post it. If there is, my criticisms will be less warranted because you could at least get your corpse if you had two keys.

Yea, Fox's room was busted. I have fixed it. And yes, his proc is extremely complex and appears to be intended to prevent people from soloing him.

For future reference this is how Fox should be taken....

Soloing Fox would be possible, he is only a regular group mob (75m), but it's likely not to work out very well. He kills you shifted ferret, and he has a bunch of procs which make it likely that you'll just die instantly. He has a bunch of shields which make magic not a good option against him. If area resets you won't have a key to get your corpse.

First of all those who need him should first pop their OWN KEY to him from the 3 mobs that load. Alocer is the easiest to kill.

On a chop day, those with keys should form a group. Kill felicia, alocer, then unlock down to Direheart.

Tanks leads attack with demon bind, if he misses, someone else will need to get it. Best to arms him, he's likely to reflect magical spells. Best to have lambs for people he might proc during fight. If he drags someone off, leader needs to go west, and tank needs to engage. Best to do it with choppers. 5 men is a comfortable size to take him, if players are prepared.
