The Moors of Gr'Valdh

Postby Magi » Sat Dec 06, 2014 11:28 pm

The Moors of Gr'Valdh pops lots of potions and random sbs from an usual list... mostly lowbie ones. Mobs are between 50k and 10 million xp, mostly 1-2 mil.

There is an unconnected 'Great Tower of Gr'Valdh' zone at the north end of the zone. We can assume it will eventually be the site of another area opener.

A map of the Moors has been completed, and will be published on the wiki very soon.

The shield of twilight, a cleric prime healbonus shield also pops in the area somewhere.

a page torn from the gr'valdhic adventurer's guide popped during the area opener, on something.

There is something written upon it:

* 'Twas the seamstress, a maiden fair, *
* With sapphire eyes and golden hair, *
* Brought forth the wolves of wintery wool, *
* And forced it upon her splintery spool, *
* There she wove from a furry mix, *
* A robe divine, born of six, *
* A sextet of hides splashed with red, *
* But warmer than a dragon's bed. *

I've got curious on who pops a +hit leg plates in the area, so I did 3 full area clean ups and a few more kills of the champion during the Island day.

Here are the results:

1. the mace of twilight
Object 'grv mace twilight', Item type: WEAPON
Item is: GLOW
Weight: 2, Value: 2039gold, Worn in: TAKE WIELD
Damage Dice is '3D4'
Can affect you as:
Affects: HITROLL by 3
Affects: REGEN_HP by 1
Only those who are at least experienced magic users, clerics, thieves,
warriors, druids, necromancers, bards, or monks may use this item.

Pops on Uruk-Hai Berserker, a 300k mob, in the E-N part of the area.

2. a pair of feathered slippers
Object 'grv slippers feather feathered', Item type: ARMOR
Item is: GLOW
Weight: 2, Value: 9877gold, Worn in: TAKE FEET
AC-apply is -0.3
Can affect you as:
Affects: SAVING_POISON by -2
Affects: KICKDAM by 5
Only those who are at least experienced magic users, clerics, thieves,
warriors, druids, necromancers, bards, or monks may use this item.

Pops on teratorn - 3-5mil? I popped it on the N-W one, but they probably both do.

3. a set of gr'valdic legplates
Object 'grv leg plates grv aldic grvaldic', Item type: ARMOR
Item is: GLOW
Weight: 3, Value: 25364gold, Worn in: TAKE LEGS
AC-apply is -1.0
Can affect you as:
Affects: HITROLL by 1
Affects: HITPOINT by 15
Only those who are at least experienced thieves, warriors, bards, or monks
may use this item.

Pops on Camelops 500k mob, one and only.

Also, I popped a strip of wolf's hide from a dire wolf. Given that eq pop was on and I killed lots of wolves, I'm guessing that either poprate is low or that it pops on only one wolf in the western part of the area, near the rhino. Either way, this forge requires some effort.

Mobs kept popping 1-3 newbie spellbooks each, very convenient. The sbs included:
- dispel good
- awaken
- supplication
- elderberry
- summon undead

I dropped them at the BH library, so they should be there until a crash/reboot.

I also popped some run of the mill sbs (water breath, cure minor, familiar, infravision) available in magic shops and easy mobs, I just dropped those in the area.

I went through this area several times to search for whatever gear remained unexplained about on here, and I only was able to find 1 piece, a beaver skin belt fom the giant beavers on the east side of the map. I only killed them about 3 times each (6 total beavers or so) and got 2 belts to drop. The stats of the belt are as follows:

Object 'grv beaver skin belt', Item type: ARMOR
Item is: GLOW
Weight: 1, Value: 100gold, Worn in: TAKE WAIST
AC-apply is -0.2
Can affect you as:
Affects: INT by 1
Affects: SAVING_SPELL by -1
Only those who are at least experienced magic users, clerics, necromancers,
or bards may use this item.

Seems likea reasonably decent caster item, but I got the drop on Island day so it may actually be a bit harder to get a drop. The beavers were around 500k mobs, reasonably easy.

I wonder if larger mobs pop anything. I havent killed as many giant moas as I'd had liked.
Also, I didnt kill the mastadon, figuring he doesnt have the leg plates - and is the largest mob in the area.

Belrath and I have been trying to crack the riddle to the stone table in Moors of Gr'Valdh. Going to every room in the current map does not give complete exploration and it seems likely (but not for sure) that there is a trig trap at the room with the stone table. As part of our attempts I cycled the mastodon which finally loaded... Item should appear on the eqlist next refresh.

Ok.
You feel informed:
Object 'grv elephant skin boots', Item type: ARMOR
Item is: GLOW
Weight: 4, Value: 38473gold, Worn in: TAKE FEET
AC-apply is -0.3
Can affect you as:
Affects: STR by 1
Affects: HEAL_BONUS by 5
Only those who are at least experienced clerics or master warriors, or
experienced druids, or master monks may use this item.

I encourage people to go to the Stone Table room and try and figure it out. We need all the help we can get on this one.

examine table

Translated from ancient Gr'Valdhic:

If a willing victim that has committed no treachery is killed
in a traitor's stead, the Stone Table will crack, and even death
itself would turn backwards.
