It sure would be a hell of a big help if druids could shift from form to form. It would make druid prime a lot more playable as a smaller one and not really affect large druids much one way or another. What you think Kj?

Shift to Shift

Postby Avatar » Tue Jan 09, 2007 2:55 am

I can only echo the shift during fight idea. Hopefully it doesn't cost you too much mana, shifting from form to form should be more common, more ... fluid. Other chars have kick, heal, blast, trip... all sorts of commands to use during a fight. Druids just kinda... hack. It could be a little more interesting, a little more ... interactive.

I don't know if anyone remembers the old Disney animation "the sword in the stone", where Merlin has a fight with some other wizard, and they're flying around changing shapes to match and counter each other's shape. Druids fighting should look like that.

I believe she was a witch that Merlin was fighting.

I was told at one time that Kj or some other imm had been working on doing this, but the coding was difficult for some reason. It would be great if it could be worked out. I would use it a ton just to go to ferret, pick door, and return to whatever shape I was in. It would have great other uses too. Like avatar said though, it shouldn't cost much if any mana in my opinion. I can return to human form to knock door for example, but it burns ridiculous mana to do so. With shift lag (and yes, I have read rapid shift, but it doesn't work so well), you end up spending about twice as much mana to shift as the base cost because by the time your unlagged you've spent mana just to maintain form.

It was Madam Mim, and yes, it was a wizard's duel. Actually, quite a few of the creatures they shifted to would make great druid forms.
