familiar can't get to necropolis firemage

Not sure if this is a bug or what but I croaked at the firemage in the necropolis. So I got a lyme duck for a familiar and went back to get my corpse. When I ordered the familiar to 'pry coffin' to get in to the firemage's room here is what I saw:

and the duck was still in the room above the firemage.
