Looking for help with wildcards for triggers

I've been trying to play around with lua in mudlet but I'm having trouble finding a good list of wildcards to use with triggers. Does anyone have a link to such a list or could someone set me up with a few basic ones?
I've seen people use things like (.*) and (/W+) etc but I'm not sure exactly what they're intended for.
Thanks in advance,
Nate

http://wiki.mudlet.org/w/Manual:ContentsI'm still terrible at it. I finally have some basic working scripts. I hope you get much better than me and post examples. I'm happy to post wutever examples I have upon request.

I've never even looked at it. That's a player thing.
and that's not a cop-out btw, I have a Lyme area to get in game and it's rather big.
...and I do still have your eq suggestions, will accept more via email

made this awhile back.
no documentation on it tho.
stuff in box is examples.
feel free to make your own, and save the box contents before submitting.
it will not fill it in for you again.

That's pretty neat! So it converts ??? to Lua and saves it as an .xml file?
