I guess what you are asking is why you didn't win the auction. The answer is that Vixn posted a higher bid on 3-29 and you kept bidding smaller amounts up on 4-2. You never exceeded Vixn's high bid (which isn't actually shown since it was never exceeded). All you did was push up Vixn's bid to an increment above what you decided your maximum was (though you decided your maximum three times).

If there is some other question you are aluding to, please ask again. The chopping block is my baby, even though it may be a bastard child at this point.

i cant give full log of auction, but when i submit any bid _at once_ after reload page Vixn make higher bid. AND! in log i cant see this Vixn's bid.

One more. If you try submit bid ess than high bid then you can see message "Sorry. There was a problem with your bid."

The same situation was in this auction:

auction

Postby Avatar » Sun Apr 03, 2005 9:00 am

When you bid on an item, the web page doesn't apply your entire bid automatically. It starts at whatever the current value is, adds the increment, and applies that as your bid. If that's high enough to win the item, you don't pay your highest bid you only pay the current winning bid.

If there's an item on there that someone has bid 500 coins on, and the increment is 50 coins, you might bid 1000 but the web page will only apply 550. If someone then bids 600 the computer records their bid, but right after their bid puts the value at 600 then the computer still knows that you will pay up to 1000, so it adds the increment again and applies 650, and you're still winning even though you haven't logged onto the web page again during the other person's bid of 600.

This auction seems to work on the same idea as www.ebay.com.

A person can make a high bid, and you cant figure out that bid until you bid higher. You have to be the high bidder before you can stake any thought of winning the item.

If the problem is that you "would have" bid higher knowing what the highest bid was...then take time to outbid the person with the high bid until you are, and stop making cheap bids that dont win you the item, and whine and complain afterwords.

I find it stupid that this chopping block has been up for a while, and just now someone has a problem with how it works, cause they didnt win. And basicaly seem to be trying to figure out a way around how it works to benefit what they think it should be.

If you want to win an item, make a winning bid, its pretty simple.

I think more likely he doesn't understand how e-bay / chopping block work. It's probably a simple misunderstanding.

Yeah, stupid idea. Thats why ebay and just about every other auction site in the world uses the same method for bidding.
