Clans

Postby 12345 » Thu Jan 27, 2005 10:54 am

Since we're attracting newbies...

Players from other muds might be interested in clans. Partly because on some muds clans are very easy to join and give items/slills/abilities/races/etc to their members that make the game loads easier to play.

Sloth doesn't take this approach to clans. Temples perhaps, but not clans. However, there is no webpage or help file with clan info, etc. It might be nice if we had a clan board or some such where clan leaders could describe their clan, requirements for joining, if applicants can apply or must be invited, etc.

Just a thought.

last i checked, there where not supposed to be 'offical' clans in sloth... altho we do advertise 'clans available' on TMC, so yeah, might confuse some newbies.

*blink* Color me confused.

Golden Tigers, DoW, Dragonsworn, Holy, Sapphire, etc.

Sloth has always has clans, even if they were just groups like CYAN who all went to the same school. Weren't supported by the game in any way, but that didn't mean people could just jump into them without asking either. :)

Is there a rule against having clans now?

No, there's no rule against clans. 12345 has it right.

DoW stands for the Dogs of War

Current members:
Medios/Minstrel
Shival/13/Eva/Karkus
Eagle
Monty
Mustang
Daedalus
Mosaix - inactive
Janaera - inactive

Friendly List: Sapphire

At this time we are not accepting new members.
Requirements: Must know Medios or 13 irl or know me ingame for 5yr+

That being said, hehe, we're just some friends. I would like to see clans
take a bigger role in SlothMUD in some way.

i think we should make it known that "clans" in sloth are somewhat different from "clans" on other muds and morpgs. it's more like a gang of friends hanging out together to help each other out. I've been on muds and morpgs where clan-wars were encouraged, but since this is a limited-pk mud, I've yet to see one, though it would be fun :)

that said, where's that punka$$ mosaix

Guess this will keep me semi occupied during this long area repop

<~Knights~>

Apollo
Sarge
Jarlaxle
Luthien
Malek
Turbo
Pal
Jensen
Dann
Polk

used to have some badass groups back in the day :-)

Req. - nomination by one member, majority of the clan has to approve, 25 mil fee (well, before the new vault prices went in anyways - original palace cost us 295 mil), Tri40 char mininum.

Grand Palace is currently 20+ rooms (should be expanded within the month), personal vaults for everyone, several communal vaults for all your eq needs (if we don't have it, we'll find it, i think we're all wearing quest eq that belongs to one member or another), regen room

Thank you to the clans that have responded so far :D

I just wanted to note that I think the best feature of Sloth's clan system is that it isn't supported in the code. The existing clans are friends who got together and decided to make a clan. Nothing stopped them from doing it. Unlike other games where you have to put in an application for a new clan or join existing clans only.

The Golden Tigers

Members:
Blade
Charsi
Farfu
Kyra
Qa
Vu

Inactive/former Members:
Ceci
Corum
Desade
Fiction
Garret
Joether
Kalmak
Oden
Saul
Tunes
Tynan
Zarf

Others have moved on to immortality.

Application is made by gaming with us. Approval is dependent upon the Council of Elders. Usually there is some initiation protocol, and is unique for each individual. Vault systems and regen rooms are currently available on two continents.

GTs have effectively become an across-games clan. Our members play a variety of games, and remain comrades in other forms. Currently I think I am the only regularly active Sloth player.

what I've never liked about clans though, is what we see during quests.

if XXX clan logs in first, or has more members, they'll vote their own leader and tank and then in quest start voting for their own members to receive prizes first.

i think it's pretty gay, especially when the leader is a retarded noob and the tank sucks as much as ranger did

Mustang my punk@SS is right here :) Just taking care of some real life buisiness at the moment. No time to mud unfortunately at this moment in time. I had no intention of ever joining a clan, but Dogs of War changed my mind on that for sure. Very fun stuff. Good people. I drove 14 hours each way just to meet some of them :)

Ill be back as soon as i can :) Laters!
