Spell checks for enough mana and max # of followers

I think many of us would agree that it would be much better if it wouldn't reduce mana if check is unsuccessful. This happens to some other spells, not only summon/animate, and to some other checks - mana deducted if I try to summon more undead than I supposed to have at this level (max legion something blah blah).

i 2nd this motion. its been driving me nuts for some time now. a fix to this would be GREATLY appreciated.

To be honest, I can't figure out why its happening. Its not all spells but a few.

I'm pretty sure it's spells that have a base cost, plus a cost depending on the parameter added. It succeeds casting the base spell, but the added cost causes it to fail.

Also, successfully casting banish undead should cost mana. Just because there wasn't anything to banish doesn't mean the spell failed.
