is it mages turn ?!

during last few months old classes got some new skills and skills improvements:

warriors got bunch of new skills;
thieves got ambush and squirm improvements;
clerics got supplication;

as well some of these changes go only for prime class:

warriors prime got massive critical blow;
thieves prime got four-rooms ambush;
clerics prime got best supplication mobs;

well, i like those changes, big thanks to our immortal team :)

hope its mages turn.

honestly, i would prefer to think about penalties for mirror images, rather
than thinking about new mages skills/spells.

only two skills have penalties as far as i know:

warriors lose one attack when use parry;
mages cant stab with mirrors ( and cant create mirrors after stabbing );

we do not want to compare parry and mirrors, do we ?
parry is the best prime skill, no comparation required.

i can understand how penalty for parrying related with losing one attack:
both parry and attacks are mainly warriors skills.

but i cant understand how mages prime skill related with main thief skill.

since its mages turn ( i hope ) :P may be immortals could somehow
reconsider mirrors penalty ?
sure, best desicion for me as for mage is to eliminate penalty at all
( mirrors have way less power than parry ), but, if i am wrong :twisted:
and mirrors are so powerful - do not tie penalty with other classes.

look at new generation mages prime: most of them, who know about
mirrors penalty, do not include thief in their classo.

we got improved resist fire/cold! :P

I'm with falsra on this one

clerics can stab with servants up
monks can grip with mirrors up (altho granted they cannot recast afterwards)

let us stab our mobs!

i was speaking about skills and spells designed only for one class.
resist fire/cold is not only mages abilities:

"RESIST FIRE"

See also: RESIST COLD, ELEMENTAL RESISTANCE
Usage: cast 'resist fire' <target>
Accumulative: multiple castings recharge to max duration
Duration: 2 hours
Level: Cleric 3, Mage 7, Druid 8
Save: N/A
Spellbook: cold
Min mana: 12

He was joking falsra :)

Removing penalties from mirror image makes it very abusable, we all know that :)

What could be done to mirror image, i think is make it more often that the mirror image does not fall... for example some times, mirror image blocks a hit but then it does not fall off, this is a very rare occurance, don't really see it much these days.

Also new spells for mage primes would always be awesome... if you ask me, everyone with mages in class order should naturally resist % of damage from magical spells, hey they're mages... lets say % is .5 x mage level, 40 mage = 20% resist damage, and now if mage is prime lets say % calculated by .75 x mage level, 40 mage = 30% reduction

Haven't messed with the numbers by much, but vaguely those numbers seem fine, also they should not stack with other spells, that might come in the near future that might deal with spell damage reduction. Avatar level will not make the reduction % greater.

Will post other idea's later.

heh, seems i dont understand jokes on Mondays :)

if we have to have penalties, why to tie them with other classes ?

native spell damage reduction idea is a good idea, although i heard mages
prime always had saving_spell bonus.

Well the thing is... you have 5 mirrors (So theres 5 copys of u). A mob
will be questionable if he/she sees a person thats walking towards them
with 5 copys and a stabber.

I've always thought of it the other way around. Regardless of how many mirrors you have, the real one is the one with the knife if your back. Same for grip. ie. Makes more sense for mirrors to fall if you attempt either of these since the mob will then know exactly where you really are.

Since that basically makes it suicidal to stab, it's safer to prevent it all together.

Why grip works through mirrors I have no idea though.

well that doesnt hold up since during a round of fighting the one thats hitting you is the real one anyway...... so that is no different than a stab.

A mage prime without monk with thief is getting cheated, we should be at least able to single stab if the mage monks can grip.

another idea:
make reflection better, where it works as well as spell shield or spectral shield, it rarley works currently

natural spell reduction sounds good too :)

im just wondering do mage primes wind harder than non mage primes,i know thief primes stab harder than non primes,monk primes grip harder than non primes. so on ??

and thanks Falsra to bringing us to the table, its been a long time since we got anything

Chuckle, yep, and I still can't seem to get off another stab, even if I'm invisible or in the dark, though I can smack him with a sword any time I feel like it. Stabs seem to get mobs attention.

actually monk primes get more innate handdmg from levels but a mo 2nd
with equal dmg grips the same i think

i have personally been lobbying for two things:
fix a few eq restricts from AND to OR on some str items

and make kensai multiply dmg just a little more than focus does
so that a monk prime can actually grip harder

im worn out with 13 right now because of the str gear issue.
im a triple 40 wearing thick golden rings...thats ******* lame.

so anyway here i am in the mage thread, playing slipknot.
cleric primes have cheaper restores
im down with 22ma winds
how 'bout you ?

he meant for mage primes, since clerics primes have cheaper restores than the rest of us - so, since it's hard to be a non-caster and a mage prime, i fail to see how that'd make it easier for non-casters.

all these ideas are nice

but it doesn't change the basic point of orignal post, which is that there's no good reason mages cannot stab with mirrors up, since compared to all the new class stuff, it really wouldn't be exactly overpowered

I can agree with that.

Let mages stab with mirrors!
STAB WITH MIRRORS!

p.s. and undeads should have ability to protect their masters ;)
