How'd you find out about Sloth? I know much is being made of TMC and we do get a noticable amount of new peoples, but I'm curious how the people who came and stayed first happened along :)
If I forgot an option or something, post it

I suspect that for 90% of Russians it will be "I read an article in a book called "The best computer games: Volume 3 (i think)" and logged on, so might be an idea to add that option :)

Could fall in the category of 'A friend told me about it', but Sloth used to have a large following at UWEC. If you were in Schneider after hours it was difficult to ignore the Slothers talking back and forth across the room (low-tech ICQ). Other campus labs were similiar if not as bad. Quite a few people were sucked in trying to figure out what the fuss was all about.

Diazz (Kyuss of Soulmud) introduced me to SlothMUDII and FoxMUD
simultaneously in 1996 on the campus of SIU. Similar computer lab
stories for all of us I imagine..except the time Kelley (Diazz) slammed
Lonewolf's head against a brick wall for being ignorant, at the lab. That
was pretty ******' hilarious.

@ the time the SIU roster was
Legion/Royce
Bluedeath/Joel
Kitten/Alicia
Streetsweepr/Wrigley
Chaffee/Paul
Apolicus/Mike Fry
Diazz/Kelley
Riceman/Dan Parkinson - the real orig riceman
Bruiser/ME
WARCHILD/Brian
Lonewolf/Jerry
SMurfette/Sherry
Sheri/Yet another Mike
Kensia/Wuj
Foogey/Foog- James
Radon/Isaac
Lonestar/Some dude who never would associate with us
MDK/Mike Fisher(Medios)
BRH/Brad

quite a lot of us, we used to hem up the computer lab

Mine is definitely a "fren intro me in". Still remember, i was serving the army then. One of my superiors (Himura) then was playing this game (which is slothmudIII) and i was very curious by the text going down and descriptions. I played MMORPG then and found it boring as there was little interaction in the game. Then one day, i just asked if he can teach me, he was glad to and a friend of his (Vik) decided to help me along. The late Quins and other existing players such as Packy, Gti, Choong, Chibi, Rojak (original one) also taught me the tricks of the game when i was very small..

I guess that's when i got hooked by this game :)..heh.
what is life if full of care, if we have no time to stop and stare?

Ok 12345, who the hell are u? I thought the UWEC following was dead and gone, or at least down to me and a few friends of the friend who was the sloth dealer to us all!

If you are 12345 for 'anonymity' send a mudmail, I'll keep it anonymous.

Desade and Calim are the 2 main char's I've played in my days on sloth, since spring of '97. I made Calim well after graduation tho.

Nothing anonymous about me, just like the username :)

Played Sloth I 92-94 as Ender, my girlfriend at the time played as Princess. Worked with some guys who played as Krispy, Roboto, Lucid and Jobo. There was also Borf, Starcade (who was a pretty scary guy IRL), whoever Terry played as and about 6 other guys I can't remember the names of off hand. Not including the folks who played off campus.

I'm hurt 13 u didn't add me to ur nice little list.

I was playing another mud, wasn't sure of the name. However Foogey,
Blackwind, and Shawn were playing a mud while I was at SIU lab doing
a paper. Since that day I was hooked, playing from home on a dial-up.
Kinda sucked on that Mud, because there was a total of like 4-5 ppl max
which was usually Blackwind and Foogey.
I then started to play D&D and met Ryan & Dean in real life and they
informed me of a Mud they played. Ryan (Falsra) and Dean (Rage) showed
me SlothIII for the first time. After that I was pretty much hooked.
Then one day playing Sloth, I noticed a geek next to me playing a Mud.
I asked what he was playing, and he stated SlothIII. From that point on
that geek (Medios) and his friends morted me to prime 40.
Then I met Medios friend which was the biggest geek named Aaron, and
he got a ticket for parking in a school zone. Kinda funny if I say so.
After that I mudded for about 3yrs, quit, sold Link, and came back about
1.5yrs later and now I just can't get enough. Oooo well...
Most of you are prob thinking, wtf is Will typing about? Is this his life story
on Sloth? Well, let me tell u something... YES!!!

You didn't start playing Sloth until years after the time I'm talking about Will.
I said @ the time :P And you should mention Falsra = Eagle now, and Rage = Monty now.

Addendum to my list
Whey/Tony
and there was one more guy I can't remember his name..but
he mudded with Whey in the ag lab.

Ok i found ok sloth from most of my school mates. A friends of mine actually started playing sloth when he was in a friends house who was slothing at that time (dont recall the chars name). After that it got most of the school playing (well not most of us) like Ker, Barael, Chainer, Hotara, Wert, Stone, Blaze (orginal) not to mention my self. Those events lead us to playing mud.

Ps : sloth is infectious!!!

Actually, the _best_ feature of playing in groups was dying. It was too easy to ask someone else in the lab to go recall you or grab your corpse. And if they didn't know where you were, you just walked them through it (or did it yourself).

Now I have to use this ICQ thing, and even though the people helping me are pretty cool, the whole concept sucks.

Sloth

Postby Avatar » Wed Feb 09, 2005 11:37 am

Computer labs were cool. I found sloth during some search, I don't remember where either via Gopher or some emailed Mud List. We didn't have web sites back in those days. I've still got a partial hard copy of the eqlist that used to be sent around via email.

Hey 12345, ender, whatever. Did you used to scuba dive? I think I talked to you on Sloth way back when.
