Fixing it till it breaks

Regarding the changes outlined in: Newbie Fixes Hometown, aggro, and soon graveyard

This does not seem very well thought through. This will basically kill
off any mobile phone/mobile internet play on SlothMUD.

VK and newbie graveyard is much more friendly for mobile
phone/internet play. As outlined in the PV thread, my example is
playing on the commute or in boring bus or train journeys, etc. If the
train goes in a tunnel and I lose my link, it doesn't matter, if my
char dies he is waiting patiently for me in the newbie graveyard when
the link returns. One cannot control when/if the link returns so dying
and potentially being looted makes the game unplayable in such
conditions.

Secondly, often one has time to play but only if there is the ability
to rent out quickly, as risk of having to spend 20 minutes dealing
with looting also makes the game unplayable in such conditions.
Especially since one cannot just walk off and guarantee that the mud
hasn't crashed or had an unscheduled reboot by the time that you come
back to sort out.

"The target audience for these enhancements was never our experienced
players but for those new to our game."

The target was those new to the game but as a side effect it was a fun
way to play for everyone, especially those on phones.

If you want characters to follow some strict script, just get rid of
the human players altogether and just have AI controlled mobs playing
the game.

For me personally these changes make SlothMUD less-fun and less-usable
and will thus reduce the time I am able to be logged on and playing.

Actually, there was quite a bit of debate regarding this change and its been brought up for a few month now.

The benefits are now working as intended and we will see what affects, if any, they have on our current player-base.

There were many mobile users before we added these features and I am sure we will have mobile users now that they work as intended. We are also starting the design of a mobile app which will only encourage further use.

I'm sorry that this bug actually affects you more so than the other 98% of the players but it is what it is.

There are many choices you can still make such as cycling easier areas, not entering aggressive areas on your way home, don't play on your home, etc etc etc.

Those are decisions that only you can make. Hopefully it will not affect you as much as you think its going to.
