[Quest-ish!] More Trouble in Symphonia

Another letter from Impresario Armand Moncharmin:

[quote:3kmlhdzh]My most exalted lords and ladies,

We thank you graciously for bringing us the requisite materials
to restore our shattered chandelier. The alacrity with which you
completed this task was truly remarkable.

Alas, there is something amiss. Upon my return to Symphonia,
my good friend Maestro Firmin Richard informed me that the
chandelier's chain was severed by magical means. The implications
are most disturbing.

But even more troubling is the disappearance of certain individuals.
I think it best for you to seek him out and have him explain it to
you himself.

Your humble servant,
Impresario Armand Moncharmin

P.S. Again, Chobbs will be most gracious if you report any bugs
and potential exploits first. [/quote:3kmlhdzh]

A letter from Maestro Firmin Richard:

[quote:1i96m5kc]Good citizens of Sloth,

Due to the valiant efforts of a few individuals, the good Madame
Giry has been returned to us slightly battered but otherwise safe
and sound.

The circumstances surrounding the disappearances of her and the
rest of the cast members are greatly disturbing and are currently
being investigated. There are still a few wayward members, and
our ushers are confident we can find them during the week.

We believe we will have found the cause behind these strange
occurrences sometime between the hours of
[u:1i96m5kc][b:1i96m5kc]7 and 8 o'clock PM GMT -05:00 on Friday, September 25th[/b:1i96m5kc][/u:1i96m5kc].

If this time is too inconvenient, I'm sure we can move the
investigation time.

[Quest] Opening the doors of Symphonia

Postby *Chobbs* » Tue Sep 22, 2009 3:45 am

From the desk of Impresario Armand Moncharmin:

[quote:33n3giq0]My most noble lord and ladies,

Thanks to your valiant efforts, our wayward cast members
have returned to Symphonia safe and soundly!

Alas, what befell the ballerina Mina Sorelli is truly regrettable,
but she shall be avenged!

We will have found the source behind all these disruptions by:
[b:33n3giq0][u:33n3giq0]9:00PM GMT -05:00 (US EDT) on Friday September 25th[/u:33n3giq0][/b:33n3giq0]

Be prepared!

Your most gracious servant,
Impresario Armand Moncharmin

P.S. Chobbs apologizes for the typos and mild confusion here
and there. Still working out a new system, and he's working
out the bugs![/quote:33n3giq0]

[Quest] Opening the doors of Symphonia

Postby Wingnut » Sat Sep 26, 2009 5:38 am

First thanks to Chobbs for a great quest.
Second I think Chobbs has found a nice way to reward players for their participation in quests. When you participate in a part of the quest you get a quest voucher. (ie the Seal of Symphonia.) When all parts of the quest are done players can chose their own reward from list (shop). This ends the he gave it all to his buddy bickering. Yes of course you will still have the players that gripe there isn't anything good they can get for how many quest seals they have but......I think it's much better than S3 methods!

Thanks agian Chobbs.

Flame away people. I know someone will!

Thanks to Chobbs for interesting quest and all imms who helped him to code and fix bugs. And thanks to Belion for good leading and all guys who joined the group and done a great job.

Also I agree this new reward system is good if not perfect!

p.s. I think this quest was very good for opener. But also I miss quests where you had to run all over the mud and use all your knowledges of areas and mobs to complete quest tasks and solve the puzzles. (It's not a critic or whine, just my wish).

p.p.s. By the way the entrance point to Opera Symphonia (if I get it right) is .4n4w2nw from SS well. Go, go explorers!

To be honest I didn't like a part of Quest schedule. Had to wake up at 3 a.m. but i wasn't sorry.
It was very funny watching group of 31 players struggling vs single mob and his servants.
I liked quest mobs that does something else but smack you hard.
I liked a storyline, interactive mobs and lack of crashes *wink*
Vault Keeper Shop proved its expectations. Lots of very cool eq waiting to be picked up by a bold adventurers.
If I may suggested adding more various eq in Vault would be very nice. For an example, some hard forge cps (like gem of musing, infernite gauntlets etc.).

Niway, it was fun watching 31+ players share they evening playing this amazing game.

We definitely need more quests ....

P.S: Thanks Belion for leading .)

Mornin' folks,

Thanks to all who participated, and all the imms who helped. Clink, Akasha, Juggle for the coding tips, Trist and Astorel for catching my many many typos, Tox for showing me the ropes, and Splork for not smiting me after my many, many, many crashes. :)

Hopefully the mob wasn't too bad: sorry if he was a wee bit on the fat side. And the spammage. I forgot to put a few of the messages outside the for loop, so some got iterated an ungodly number of times.

@Kida
I'll see if I can write a scatter/search the mud quests.
Also, in your quotes listing, you forgot such classics as:
'Whiff looks down in terror as its intestines spill out!'
'Zuzu has been banished to the astral plane!'

@Cizin
Sorry about the inconvenient quest time. I tried to accommodate as many people as I could, hence the spreading the second phase mobs out all throughout the day. Next time do let me know what time is convenient for you.
Also, I was thinking about a "any cp" token, but it's just way too hard to quantify. Krimeah is even harder to cycle than say, regal-king-darkness, and even that's up for debate, so it's probably best not to touch that one.

If anyone still has seals, see me or pop into the temporary portal at the entrance to the area. There is no point in saving them; next time I'll probably use something else.

Still new to this coding/writing business, so please let me know about any coding errors/excessive spammage in the new area either via the ingame bugs/typos or sending them to chobbs@slothmud.org.

Part II will be along soon as I finish a few other projects.

Whee!
Chobbs
