Happy 10th Anniversary SlothMUD III!

Fifteen-years ago, SlothMUD booted up for the first time. Quickly the little mud, operated by a handful of college students gained recognition across the world – from the United States to Russia to Australia and points in between and beyond. The goal in the beginning was to give people a friendly atmosphere in which to play, and a means with which to interact with friends across the globe.

Five years later, SlothMUDIII was born from the ashes with a new owner, and fresh ideas, and a new direction for the MUD. Since August 13, 1997, this direction has been to make SlothMUDIII one of the best MUDs on the internet. With hundreds of players worldwide, a friendly and robust atmosphere, and hours of enjoyment for everyone, SlothMUDIII has risen to the challenge of maintaining a free-to-play system with no donation system for elite equipment and an open-to-all mentality, all while improving game play by leaps and bounds through the years.

With an administration of helpful, diligent, and intelligent coders, SlothMUDIII now boasts eight regular classes plus an elite Avatar class to choose from in a four class system with hundreds of skills and spells to choose from along with thousands of unique items and equipment to make each character special to its owner. In the past ten-years SlothMUDIII has raised the bar for free-to-play MUDs everywhere by adding:

Sloth III

Postby Avatar » Tue Aug 14, 2007 2:55 pm

Congrats Slothmud: Imms and Admins and Players alike. This really is an excellent place to be.

It's amazing to think of all the changes that have been discussed, argued, and implemented over the years. Sloth III was a very different game than Sloth II, but it's also become a very different game now than it was in 1997. Congratulations again, these 10 years have been a wonderful accomplishment.

Allow me to thank all of you who continue to play in our lil corner of alternate-reality.

We (the current and previous crew of immortals) might make the game world an interesting and creative place to spend your time, but without you the players, all our efforts would be for naught.
So my personal thanks to the players for continuing to give us a reason to make new stuff for you to do, and to all the creators (past and present) who continue to make sure Sloth is alive.

Damn, I was really trying to write a good post. I edited it like 10 times, but it always turned out to be a little too emotional. Well, still... I'm glad I met you all, guys.

So, I'd like to congratulate everyone and thank the imms for all the job they've done. I enjoyed playing this game.

Poor widow...feeling guilty about skinning your pet bear to make a new hat? Sloth isn't the same without your caustic rants...visit!

And I also would like to thank all the imms and creative players that have made it way to easy to watch days fly by! You continually amaze.
