Whats a reasonable amount of times for a cobra to fail climb?

You raise your hands to the sky and slowly shift into a venomous-looking snake (Apprentice).

The reason you lose hp when you shift return is simple. Ferrets only have 31 hp and it would be possible to shift into a ferret when hurt, then regen up to 31 hp and then shift return for full hp. To stop that they made it where you lose some hps when you shift return(I am not sure if its time related or what). Granted it sucks to have to heal yourself but I don't know of any other way to stop ppl from abusing ferret hps.

The climb probably fails because cobra form is relatively low level.

I'm not sure I agree with ya here Mike, but one way we could check... can someone with 18 nat con, fully heal up, shift ferret and shift back and tell me if your at max hp's?

The fact that I have 606hp with 15 con... and I lose exactly 56 hp's which is the difference of me having 18 con, is too much of a coincidence. But I could be wrong.

That bug is a seperate one Mike. When it comes to hp loss there are two.

I call that one the "ferret shift bug"... not to be confused with the "loose hp for any shift" bug.

The ferret shift bug generally makes you loose ALL your hp except for about 60 or so hitpoints. I generally loose 600hp in that bug.

The "Loose hp for any shift" bug which I am blaming on Con, only makes me loose the amount of hp that having con points gives. Roughly 3x18 or 56 hit points. (If my nat con is only 15, which it is)

Possibly the one stryx mentioned... I was shifted dragon, fly dropped, and I lost the fly through dragon...

Crystal Waterfall
A waterfall cascades from high above into a small rippling pool.
A light wind rustles the trees, bringing the faint scent of pine with it.
Along the east bank of the pool lies a brush and moss covered cavern.

Above Pool
Above the pool where the waterfall flows into, the pressure of the down
speeding water is at its greatest. Water spray makes it difficult to see
much more than water, water, and more water.

This one is pretty annoying... some people spend 500 drachma for +1 mana regen, and as you can see, after casting a spirit watcher I seem to have lost 3 mana regen just like that! Why? I've lost as much as 9 mana regen at times due to this... 'bug'

Rutted Road
A wagon-rutted road runs through the forest. Several areas to both
sides of the road have been cleared and appear to function as temporary
campsites from time to time. The marsh grass alongside the road is bent
and the embers in a few recently abandoned fire pits smolder still.
Exits: North East South
A wagoneer is here strolling through the forest.

Ok, scrub that last post... Learn something new every day :)

"SPIRIT WATCHER"

See also: SPIRITS DISMISS
Usage: cast 'spirit watcher' [nickname]
Duration: permanent, until dismissed or slain
Level: Mage 20, Cleric 20, Druid 20, Bard 20, Necromancer 20
Spellbook: cheaply bound spellbook
Stratum: Summoning
Min mana: 20
[color=red:wkr7latj]Mana regen: -1 while spirit is around[/color:wkr7latj]

This easy spell summons the least powerful sort of spirit, a watcher spirit.
The exact nature of the spirit depends on which sort of magic the caster
is most expert at, and also possibly on whether the caster is more affiliated
with beatific or infernal powers.

In addition to the usual tasks that all spirits can perform, watcher spirits
can keenly follow and guard a target. This is especially useful for monsters
that you (the caster) intend to kill as soon as you get around to it. A
watcher will follow the target around and warn off anybody else who looks
as if they are considering poaching it. If someone has the gall to attack
anyway after receiving this warning, the watcher will let you know so you can
visit upon the interloper a suitable vengeance.

When you have conjured a horde of spirits, it can become a burden to tell
them apart. To aid with this, you can give each spirit a nickname when
conjured.

You get a potion of greater healing from the corpse of a terracotta soldier that's on the ground.
A terracotta soldier stops following the terracotta patrol leader.

<1199hp 564ma 150mv>
quaff potion
You quaff a potion of greater healing which dissolves.
You feel much, much better.

<607hp 545ma 150mv>

The other night, someone restored me shifted and the same thing happened... and also my eudaemon stopped healing me shifted, although I heard it was being fixed...

Not sure if it has been yet... align is bad from too much posting on the board (), can't be bothered fixing it to check eudaemon.

I've noticed that as well. In the last several months, being healed while in form seems to return your max hp to whatever you have unshifted.

Crier won't let me edit...

I'm assuming that the unshifted hp returns on heal because of something to do with the chunk of code that checks your max hp to prevent heals giving you >maxhp. My guess would be that it's checking your unshifted hp rather than shifted, and somehow resetting max at the same time.

None of that's based on actual evidence though, just conjecture.
