accompany & songcraft

how about a lower level bard skill called accompany that lets you sing or play along with a more experienced bard to help and improve thier songs effectiveness. or a skill called songcraft (or listen modifier) that let's you know whats currently being played and it's effect. maybe both could be below level 20. :?:

I like your accompany idea. I may add that; it could be a charisma bonus to the singer, for example.

I wonder if songcraft is really useful... don't you periodically get "Brand sings another verse of 'Song title here'" anyway? Or is the point just that it would tell you what the songs are doing, so newbies could learn?

Yeah... and if you can make that skill work while singing, it'd be even better :)

Songcraft would be interesting for 2 reasons:

We only see when another player begins to sing. We don't see the starting of all the verses. The only way to tell what songs you are under the effect of is score.

We can't tell how many listeners there are for our songs.

I've suggested accompany several times, as well as other similar skills. They were all considered valid ideas that were never high enough on the list to implement, and probably eventually forgotten. Having multiple bards in a group is not nearly the issue it used to be, but can still be a problem.
