Autumnal forest - where DOES the elf get all those vials?

Postby harik » Tue Dec 08, 2009 7:39 pm

Is he really supposed to proc teleport every round of combat starting from round 1? The only way to hold him down really feels like an exploit, but at the same time he seems really broken. Is there any way for a non-druid to get him?

I asked on gossip and people have said "He's always been that way", but man that's one really freaking annoying critter.

And for the people who thought it was a wimpy proc, he starts vialing from the first round of combat - I got a single 'very hard' in when he saved vs blind before he was gone:

l maimed
...
A maimed elf is in excellent condition.

cast 'blind' maimed
Ok.
A maimed elf growls at you and attacks!
A maimed elf hates your guts!
A maimed elf pounds you hard.
<6:00 437h 167m 203v 9054114x 65182g -1.8AC /storm Autumnal Forest/Vk>
You pierce a maimed elf very hard.
A maimed elf misses you with his pound.
A maimed elf pierces you.
A maimed elf misses you with his pound.
You miss a maimed elf with your pierce.
A maimed elf says 'I will remember you, Kirah. We, elves, live long and remember well...'
The maimed elf produces a small vial of colored liquid.
He smashes it with his mace, and is gone in a puff of orange smoke!

Elf isn't broken, he is designed to do what he does.

If you want to kill him you got to keep him down...

Trip/Bash him.
When he can't get up, fireball him.
Write some scripts to "scan" for him and run to him when he phases.

As long as you trip/bash he's not very hard... just a pain.

He's a classic pain in the butt mob. There are several strategies to defeating him. It's reasonably easy to solo him even if you figure him out.

yep, he's been that way for at least 10 years and been a pain for at least 10 years, however in those years hundreds of players have worked out methods of beating him consistently.

Once you work out a method that works for you and you've made it work 2-3 times he will seem a ridiculously easy mob to beat ... then you'll have the fun of his low pop rate.

Oh yeah!
Maimed elf:)) The nice one if you know how to deal with it.
He will teach you patiece needed for cycling mobs for eq.
And he will show you that nice pain in finger while typing: where maimed / scan / e,n,w,s,u,d.
He will also teach name of every single location in The forest.
Be patient and run fast.

hunt also works well
when you see him type trip fast
if he gets up trip
if he dosen't then fireball

when he bugs out hunt (cause he will) then hunt again

Its not the fastest strategy and knowledge of the area works better (I printed a map of the area and wrote all the location names on it when I started out) but it does work reliably.

Cool, thanks for all the advice. :)

I'll try some different things on him and see how well I can drop him now.
