Close but no cigar

The reason being 2d6=12 possible while the 3d3 only leads a 9 possible.. plus the sabre has a +dam bonus so even if u hit say 8..the plus dam adds extra pnt.. myself I'd stick to holy swords.

To compare any 2 weapons, just figure out the min,max and average damage for each.

3d3 = min:3, max:9, ave:6
2d6 +1 = min:3, max:13, ave:8

that said, the quickling sabre has the same min, a much better max, and a much better average.... so it is considerably better.

except that the blade is a proc weapon and loads on 5m mobs
the sabre loads on 50k mobs

help compare

Postby rith » Sat Jun 25, 2005 10:42 pm

help compare
"compare"

This command will compare similar item types hopefully
give a vague idea on which item is better. You may only
compare items that are in your inventory, and the items
must be either weapons or armor. Please keep in mind,
the outcome may be incorrect once in awhile, but the
majority of the time it should be right.

Suck do :D

Sable Ring of the Dark Lords looks a little bit better than the ring of goodness.

Well at least it got that right :P

Two Questions:

1) What is a “proc” weapon? From what I can tell from looking at the equipment list, they appear to be weapons that may fire off a spell when they hit, but that’s just a guess.

2) In the equipment list the Blackened Blades is not listed as a proc weapon. What information is missing about this blade?

I was wondering why the Blackened Blade went for so much money when the specs were only a little better than the Katana, which is mostly free.

I may have comfused the blade with the one that loads on one of the Fade's
in Westwood. YEah, proc is short for procedure as in special procedure,
meaning that it fires off a fireball or deals dmg of some sort other than thru
melee. The blade I am thinking of has a poison proc on it.

I don't know if the price is a good indicator but sabre sells for 15K in VK and blade 27K

Price has nothing at all to do with it :) You could argue that the blackened blade is "better" because it sells for more money, but you're talking about using it in combat

The best method is the one suggested by deju; do a little math.

6 average damage per hit is just way not as good as 8 average damage per hit.

To put it in perspective, a person doing 8 damage per hit can kill 8 mobs in the time it takes you to kill 6. That quickling sabre is one of the best newbie weapon in the game, with the obvious exception of the holy weapons.
